Sparkle without sequins

I am recieving a lot of invitations to Christmas events this year that have the word sparkle in the the dress code. I try to avoid sequins on environmental grounds. Any suggestions? Weblinks/ images appreciated

Look for clothing embellished with crystals instead? You can get pashmina shawls decorated with Swarovski crystal. One shawl could be worn over a variety of different party outfits.

I'd just ignore the dress code, but if you don't want to get a scarf and/or bag and/or belt in metallic tones.

I would go with black velvet and accessorise with sparkle.
