I haven’t felt confident enough to buy any beauty/skin care since reading this. Am I being too cautious?

Which? investigation finds at least two thirds of cosmetics it bought from online marketplaces may be counterfeit - Which?

A majority of cosmetic products purchased from third party sellers on Amazon, eBay, Tiktok Shop and Vinted appeared to be fake and could be putting shoppers’ health at risk, a Which? investigation has found.

Yes I’d heard of something like this. If I buy from Amazon, I always check the seller, but that’s just normally acetone for my nails.
I always stick with Boots, justmylook, Superdrug etc.

I always read the reviews of anything i buy from Amazon and particularly so if it's a branded cosmetic.

If even one review says they think it's a fake (usually combined with comparison photos of packaging) i'll not buy it.

Can I ask how you check the seller? Thanks

Thanks. I think I am hugely cautious because this would make me worry that any competitor could post a fake review…..

Even checking the seller isn’t enough - looks into how many claims there are that Olaplex products bought from Olaplex via Amazon are fake!
