Getting knitwear professionally darned

I have an inherited jumper with sentimental value that has a moth hole on the front. I tried unsuccessfully to darn it myself. Where can I get this professionally darned? Has anyone had anything professionally darned before? Was it successful and is it expensive?

I can offer this name - with the caution that I know nothing about them beyond the fact they were recommended somewhere (I forget where) and the site looks trustworthy. (Reassuringly expensive.) I noted them down to send a beloved jumper of my own. Haven’t got round to it yet but it was a long search to find anywhere.

You may also go on your local facebook to see if there is a knitters group. There may be someone available who enjoys this challenge, rather than shipping off your jumper at a higher cost.

I have used The Seam that a PP recommended. Not cheap and I had to send my item away to be fixed, but it came back looking excellent.

IIRC they offer a first order discount, definitely worth looking at if you don’t have someone local.

Nicole_akong on instagram does repairs, she was also on the BBC sewing bee series.

There was a company I used a while ago, was about £25, will add when I find the old email.

Timpsons do it! Oddly, more of them seem to do alterations & repairs to clothing than to shoes these days. Maybe all the prisons are teaching sewing to their inmates 😳

It was Clothes Doctor, used to be £11 per hole darned, may have gone up.
