Dd3 (young adult) is wishing a hair dryer. She likes the dyson but it is a bit out of our price range. I have been lookong at

Shark
And also found Aerovella
On a 5 best hair dryers.

Any recommendations? We have about £150

I've always used ghd hairdryers and found them to be excellent, sorry I can't comment on either of those above.

You can look at the Shark FlexStyle. It dries fast and has good attachments, and it fits your budget. Another option is the GHD Helios. It is light and easy to handle. Both have strong airflow, so hair dries quicker and smoother.

Parlux are fab and last for a long long time
they dry your hair much faster than other machines

Shark’s HyperAir is a solid Dyson-style pick under £150 (fast, ionic, good attachments) — BaByliss Pro and Parlux (if on sale) are also reliable, pro-grade alternatives.
Look for ionic tech, multiple heat/speed settings, a cool-shot, lightweight build and a diffuser/nozzle included; Aerovella is niche so check long-term reviews before buying.

I recently upgraded my 20year old travel hair dryer for a shark flexstyle, it is fantastic!! I got it in the black Friday sale last year, so I'd keep a look out.

Second vote for Parlux.

And another vote for Parlux. I bought mine years ago after Sali Hughes recommended them in The Guardian. It dries my really thick hair so much quicker than anything else. I tried a friend's Dyson when I was staying at her house earlier this year and didn't think it was as good as my Parlux to be honest!

AGreenWitch · 08/11/2025 10:13

Parlux, I’ve had two in 30 years.

This is really helpful, thanks - am in a similar position.

Titasaducksarse · 09/11/2025 07:18

Another vote for Parlux. I love mine. Only slight negative is their quite weighty but the build is of excellent quality.

Aldi has a dyson dupe at the moment in their stores for £24.99. Ive got a dyson & my dd has the dupe & the dupe is just as good as my dyson.

Go to Aldis & buy the dupe!
