Help me style this dress

I’m going to a very formal day event, it’s going to be in midwinter and don’t want to freeze. Does anyone have any ideas for styling this Sezane dress. I need to wear a hat or fascinator.

I originally wanted a contrasting grey blue to go with the dress but think I will struggle wearing heals due to it being so cold!

Does anyone have any ideas, I’m 40, 5’8, size 10. I like a quirky but put together style (not crazy). Influencers I like the style of Hayley B Daines, belle and bunty, Franki Damone, caetanaba.

Thanks for any advice, have posted a link to the dress

That looks like a summer dress to me, not easy to style for winter formal and not very warm. Does it have to be that dress?

Not necessarily it’s from last years Christmas range, haven’t worn it and ideally would like to make it work. I was thinking maybe some boots could work with it?

Hi OP,
agree it’s quite summery, even the tone of red is more on the summer side. The sun on the model suggests holiday style and the slit is super high for winter.

however, if you’re set on this I’d go for tan tights (they’re back!) and a maxi coat preferably wool, you could go with a contrasting colour as you say. Then match the hat to either the coat or the dress. A heel is going to be essential so I’d say a pointy court shoe in some sort of suede.

Tricky.

I’ve just found this on that sight, it’s super elegant and looks much warmer. you say you’re quirky so maybe if you start with a classic base you can add your style with your hat and accessories. I think magenta shoes and hat would look great but you could even go with patterns or bold jewellery

or if you give some further examples of your style we can help?

So the dress is actually a slightly different shade of red, Sezane bring our the same dress in summer and winter in different colours! I promise it is a winter dress I just can’t find the link as it’s down last year 🙈

thanks for the link it is beautiful. I don’t really want to wear black but I love the cut!

i was thinking I could go for a black suede heeled boot then long black coat to make it more wintery? Would that sound better do you think? But then not sure what colour head wear? I just love this dress, the cut on it is beautiful and it looks much more formal in person than on the model where it looks quite relaxed. It looks quite Christmassy!

sorry I should have posted that in my initial post!

for jewellery i was just going to layer some gold and then maybe an accent colour beadI
