Get rid of wrinkles does anything work?

Looking at lyma (£2k) and other devices that might help a nearly 56yr old with dry skin and linesbI would rather not see so much.
Also thinking about something to help for future.
Looked at led masks but can't use as had floater and retinal problems last year. All fine now but do not want to risk that returning.
Foreo bear looked great but have a few metal fillings so out again. Think there was another one but had same problem with metal fillings.
Then saw lyma and nira. Lyma gets mixed reviews. Some are amazing and I really want to beleive but wonder if all fake. Then nira but not sure I could deal with pain every day.
Does anyone have any experience on something that helps. Want truthful experiences not just the rosy side.

Yes, that's why I said you need to email them or fill in their form, they aren't allowed to advertise.

Wrinklefairy2025 · 01/11/2025 22:36

Ah ok. Will do that. Did you start very low at first?

Tbh I can't remember, it was a number of years ago. If you Google, there are lots of guides online where I think you start with a low strength every other night and then build up. Good luck.

Is it still classed as a medication?

Website says medications have been removed from website due to Andorran Govt.

I was put off ordering from them because of their payment method. I cancelled my order, then cancelled my debit card. I felt uneasy about it. I now order from Pharmasonline U.K.

I've been buying from them for at least 7 years after a recommendation on here. Never had any trouble.

Yes to tret!

I’ve had neogen plasma round the eyes. It works a bit but really expensive, painful and for me a week of downtime (ish) peeling mainly.

I have metal filings and have had no problem with microcurrent devices. The Zip Halo is the best. Doesn’t do anything for wrinkles though…

Botox good but needs to be very subtle when older.

I’m thinking facelift is the best bet for around mid 50s. But they are very expensive.

LawrieForShepherdsBoy · 02/11/2025 19:13

For anyone considering tretinoin, I’d recommend using Dermatica.

Renew and Me started me off on a 0.005 strength and I think they only go up to 0.025. Dermatica started me on 0.05. My skin isn’t dry or sensitive and it’s tolerated starting at 0.05 no problem.

Howlongdon · 02/11/2025 19:16

Can tret do anything for a ‘1’ frown line?

Dermatica starts at 0.025, then 0.05, then 0.1, the highest. I tried the highest twice but found it too drying and made my skin sore, so I’ve stayed on 0.05 and it’s fine.

Yes it should reduce it, but will take time.

Delatron · 02/11/2025 19:23

Yes I use Dermatica too. Very happy with them.

Bigpaintinglittlepainting · 02/11/2025 19:36

I'm on tret again after my skin sagging, it really does work.

The only thing I really noticed is that it is very drying so add peptides like this

MsRumpole · 03/11/2025 04:48

I think it's worth starting with seeing how your skin is when it's properly hydrated. Not all creams and serums are snake oil. They won't make your skin actually younger but they will improve the appearance of it. I use a glycolic acid exfoliant and toner, then either a Vit C serum and eye cream (morning) or a retinal serum and eye cream (evening) and then a light moisturiser followed by SPF 50 serum (morning) or a night cream (evening). I started this about a year ago and my skin is genuinely completely transformed: no more redness, no more flaking, much smoother. I am also on HRT.

Apologies if you're already doing all this, OP, but if not then you don't have a full picture of how your skin is yet.

This, creams and masks are snake oil. Save up for a facelift, hrt does wonders too

What hrt are you on I'd I may ask¿ am hoping for an appointment with a better GP than the one I last saw who seemed disinterested

Menopants · 03/11/2025 06:29

I was thinking about trying skin boosters but can’t make up my mind

TattooStan · 03/11/2025 06:32

Castor oil and microneedling - castor oil is £15 for a bottle that lasts about 3 years, and a microneedling roller is £10.

Thepossibility · 03/11/2025 06:38

There are only 3 things I've noticed make a big difference. Botox, tret, and I've also had great results from skin needling which can cheaply be done at home.

Wrinklefairy2025 · 03/11/2025 07:12

This has been a great thread with lots of ideas. I am gping to ask skin + me for tret. Dd using them and seen slighlt change for acne but only using 0.009% so far. Seems low compared to the 0.025% and 0.05% have seen other places.
Is this to build up slowly while you pay for extra months?

I’m always wary of microneedling as I’ve read so many things about it not being sterile etc etc. I assume you haven’t had any problems? Do you have any recommendations for use/keeping it clean etc and what to go for in terms of device?

I always read too much about things then end up confusing myself!

I just got a 0.5mm roller - i think any will do. I roll it over an antibacterial wipe and then dip it into boiling water from the kettle.

I think Skin & Me are too low.

Dermatica starts you on 0.025 and can move you up very quickly if you tolerate well. I may have started on 0.05 as I was used to retinol (used medik 8 crystal retinal which is strongest non prescription on the market..).

Delatron · 03/11/2025 08:25

Obviously if you have sensitive skin/ are younger then Skin & Me are more suitable. But too weak for me.

Greenwitchart · 03/11/2025 08:31

Please don't have a facelift! you won't look better/younger. Just weirder...

As well as creams lifestyle also plays a big part: don't smoke, use day cream with SPF, get enough sleep and do plenty of exercise (helps the blood flow which is good for the skin) and don't get too slim because as we age being too skinny makes your face look gaunt.

Wrinklefairy2025 · 03/11/2025 08:54

TattooStan that sounds interesting regards microneedling. I keep seeing a Trinny one on social media but like BeretRaspberry had wondered about being sterile and prob read to much and got scared.

BeretRaspberry hrt did nothing for me regards skin tbh. Maybe it does for some.
Can't find the post but someone else asked as well. I use patches femseven 50 and utrogestan 11 days a cycle. Has been amazing for me but nothing to do with skin that I have noticed.
