Holy Grail boots??

Wearescrewed · 29/10/2025 23:41

I don’t think they exist but if they do, I am sure this is the place I’ll find out!
looking for boots to wear with casual just below the knee dresses, with leggings or tights.,
issue is, I am short with huge feet (size 7/7.5 and wide) so docks or very clunky boots look ridiculous but I can’t do dainty for obvious reasons.
Am leaning towards calf or knee boots in black as a style, flat or with a clunky heel.
I’ve liked Fly boots in the past.
Anyone??
Thanks😊

I just bought the Layla boot from dune via m&s and got 10% off with Sparks. I have a shorter leg at 5’3 and these are perfect on me. Depends on budget though, I love fairfax and favor too but their knee boots are slightly too long on me

I have just bought these. I’m am the same size as you and they are really comfortable and a good price, and I feel they are on trend without being too try hard iykwim

I have size 7.5 wide feet - I’ve never thought of them as huge! My default footwear for years has been big clumpy boots from:

Grenson

or knee high boots from, for example:

Legres (Cheaper in the sales, obviously.)

For a more svelte look I like:

Dear Frances

or

Le Monde Beryl

All of these are obviously cheaper in the sales.

Oh, and I wear skirts and dresses all the time with boots. Prefer shoes with trousers. (The one thing I don’t wear is ballet flats - I really do look ridiculous in those.)

OnlyOnAFriday · 30/10/2025 07:36

I'm after the same OP. Those Dune boots look nice but I want leather not suede. I also have wide calves so need an extra wide boot I think. Can't find anything.

I did see some nice ones in Asda of all places and I could get my calves in them but they looked too snug.

Ideally I'd like to spend more money and have leather but it's this sort of style I want. Funnily enough I've seen these exact boots been recommended by some influencer types online since I returned them so at least I know my fashion choice isn't way off!

Fairfax & favor now do the knee length reginas in a petite leg length. I think they are 1 inch shorter than the standard length.
I know because I want them !

Thanks so much, I am delighted to have so many options to look at. I have ADHD and get myself in a tizz about footwear, as it’s always been a struggle. There were periods where literally nothing fitted me, especially in childhood which is probably why I feel they are disproportionately big. I am short though so that they really are not in proportion! Also had an ankle break a few years ago and get frequent tendinitis. Thanks so much 😊

I’ve just bought these from Russell and Bromley. Expensive, but very comfortable and stylish.

I have size 8.5 wide feet, although I’m a bit taller than you. Honestly , choose chunky, it won’t look weird. I always think my feet look bigger in a more streamlined shape. And of course, chunky boots are more likely to have the width.

HundredMilesAnHour · 30/10/2025 11:01

These are wonderful. Bit of a pain to lace up but they’re so comfy and look fantastic. Suggest you have a lie down after looking at the price though (sorry!)

I have their previous version (slightly different heels) that I bought (invested in!) a few years ago. They’re boots for life. Partly because they take so long to fasten 😂

Next do very similar styles most winter and often in a wide fit. If that helps?

WhatterySquash · 30/10/2025 12:56

I've just got some Fly Ragi boots which have a slightly DM vibe but a bit less clumpy. Even though I sized up to fit winter socks (bought size 9, normally an 8) I'm surprised to find they look quite neat and petite on my massive clodhoppers (well relatively). Look really nice with dresses and tights.

Only tan at the min though and I don’t trust myself in a pale colour 🤣

Have a look at Pavers OP. Not a brand i would normally go to for shoes but i have a few pairs of their calf boots and they've been great. They also do wide calf sizes (bonus that they have a sale on at the moment too !)

I’m short and my feet have expanded with age, especially at the big toes joints - I feel like Florence in the magic roundabout if I try a short boot with dresses.

there’s some interesting options here but I won’t buy footwear online - nominally correct sizes often don’t fit or are horribly uncomfortable nowadays. And my experience is that many shops say they do a style in a wider fitting but don’t stock them instore …argh, it’s people with nonstandard feet who need to try on!
So…can anyone recommend physical stores which you find good for stocking wider fitting shoes? M&S and Clarks usually have some but quite a limited range.

ZenZazie · 30/10/2025 13:19

I have the Dune Tayla wide fit black suede boots, bought them a while ago. Liked them so much I bought another pair to keep in the wardrobe for the future.

Tiebiter · 30/10/2025 13:22

Moshulu do nice range of different styles.

I want some Panama jack boots!

HelenHywater · 30/10/2025 13:50

I have size 7 feet and like a pp have never thought of them as ridiculously huge! I have thin ankles so find it difficult to find boots that look ok and can't generally wear clumpy boots as they are too heavy for my weak ankles (I'm not thin I hasten to add, just have disproportionately thin ankles!)

If you're looking for something cheaper than other recommendations on this thread, I have some boots from Cake[[https://www.vagabond.com/gb/women/footwear/boots/?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=16194057029&gbraid=0AAAAADo55ULkRDI2Fc3gkADZmcC1Olxhq&gclid=Cj0KCQjwmYzIBhC6ARIsAHA3IkRfhUhaVFwii9XYOzjiKGfktai2l5RzVhTB8g2eotYIyfzJGLudsRkaAiHLEALw_wcB that are very comfortable. And bought my knee boots from Other Stories which I think is worth looking at.

I couldn't get on with my Grensons and sold them.

I did buy some ankle boots from Toast last year - they are ridiculously comfortable. (The Sturlini ones). and other than that I wear Blundstones a lot for dog walking etc.

Very happy to swap ankles if you’re up for it, @HelenHywater! I don’t do envy, but do question why my parents couldn’t have gifted me a well turned ankle …

Good to be reminded of Vagabond.

GarlicHound · 30/10/2025 17:12

Don't know if these are what you're looking for, but I'm wearing these now - having paid quite a bit more for them! They are really comfortable - the leather's supple, they're well padded inside, and the soles are bouncy.

My feet aren't 'wide' wide but they're bulky across the wide part. I sized up because Moda in Pelle tend to be quite slim. It's worked perfectly.

RobertaFirmino · 30/10/2025 21:49

Size 7 isn't huge, is it? I know it's 'bigger' but it's hardly clown territory.

Anyway, I like boots as chunky as possible. The bigger, the better. I need the support. Can't abide wearing ladylike, delicate little slimline boots, now they DO make my feet look like boats.

Wearescrewed · 31/10/2025 13:49

Update, I’ve bought these, definitely not my ideal pair and a bit uncool but they are so so comfortable and look quite small and elegant.
I will look for a more stylish pair in the sale based on your recommendations. Thanks !
