Facial waxing - does it ever get easier?!

I’m on some hair growth supplements which have apparently started working very well. My chin and upper lip have suddenly got incredibly hairy, I’ve tried derma planing and didn’t like the way it felt when it grew back, so I bit the bullet and waxed it tonight. It hurt like a bastard but it looks so much better, so someone please reassure me that it won’t hurt this badly forever

Hair grows in cycles so if you wax weekly, you'll only be pulling out about a quarter of your hairs instead of all of them at once. That will hurt a lot less.

Having said that, upper lip waxing did not agree with me at all, I always ended up with pimples/ingrown hair.

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 29/10/2025 01:32

What do you use? I just use these every time I get furry.

Never did for me, in the end out of desperation I tried a cheap IPL machine from amazon and never looked back.

Eel a year I. Of getting it done at a salon & if still hurts like a bitch in my upper lip. Chin I don't mind too much.

but no way on earth could I do it myself.

i get my underarms done too, i could do without spending the miney each month, but it feels sk much better when it's all done.

Do you have a link to the one you bought?? I'd really appreciate it.

My beautician uses threading on my face - less painful but I have it done every three weeks.

HeavenInMyHeart · 29/10/2025 07:11

I used Veet facial strips. Sadly doing it at a salon/IPL is out of reach for me at the moment

Also would be interested to find out which IPL machine ! Do you have to wax/remove hair before you zap the area with the IPL machine?

Tiebiter · 29/10/2025 07:24

I just use a mans razor. Dermaplaners are just not as good razors named differently so women can pretend they aren't shaving their faces.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 29/10/2025 07:25

I am with a pp, having my lip waxed left loads of pimples it was horrible. I use hair removal cream.

CarterBeatsTheDevil · 29/10/2025 07:29

Waxing does get better over time, but I have swapped to Veet facial hair removal cream weekly, although to be fair my upper lip isn't too bad. The chin just has to be constantly tweezed and I deny that it's one of my favourite pastimes.

Bonsaibaby · 29/10/2025 07:45

I’ve got a little electric facial razor. I don’t get loads of hair but just means I use it less.

Fasterthan40 · 29/10/2025 11:12

I am having facial electrolysis for the first time today. Has been scary to let it grow- usually tweezer- and anticipating pain but hopefully then that’s it after the course is completed.

They do say these IPL'S don't work on people with blonde hair ( just incase any of you are blonde )

I got a cheap one as I told myself if it didn't work then it wasn't a big deal but I was pleasantly surprised with the results. I use it on my upper lip and my legs

I actually havnt usef it for around 2/3 months now and you can still see where it was last used on my legs

Some people don't find these IPL's very good bur I love mine so much I bought a 2nd for when it runs out

I've had my top lip done for years and it hurts so much more than underarms! But its only for a second and passes quickly. I've moved to bleaching recently as I can't justify the salon costs. Impressed you attempted it yourself, I can't bring myself to thus the bleaching!

I don’t go to a salon for hair removal because I just feels like the never ending task! I figured I’d give it a go because I was hairy and to be honest it’s worked really well

Can I ask which hair growth supplements are you taking please ?

OSTMusTisNT · 29/10/2025 17:38

Upper lip done at a proper salon was over with so quickly I found that much easier to deal with. It did also seem to get less like being punched in the face after a while.

Doing it at home was torturous and tended to pull skin off with it 😱.
