Christmas party outfits?

Is anyone thinking about Christmas parties yet? I have an invite for a work do in early December with dress code "dress to impress" - no idea what that means🤦.

Just started to browse party outfits online and realised I have no idea what to wear. I think my taste is a bit old fashioned and I can't figure out what might look good on me and suitable for a party. Is anyone else 40ish and found something fab you could share please?

Yes (thinking about it), yes (40ish) and no (can't share anything!).

Back to work after long time sahm, first Christmas party. I've no idea of the dress code, our office is casual unless meeting a client - then it's smart casual (collared shirt , no tie for the men, smart blouse for the women, dark jeans ok). At the moment I'm thinking jeans, boots and some kind of party acceptable too, whatever that looks like.

I don't think other is much out yet. I have been looking as I have a big party on Saturday and I have struggled to find something that's not cropped, high necked or brown!

I have picked up a tuxedo jacket that's got little rhinestones on it from Asda. It fits well with the exception of the sleeves being too long. I could use elastic bands to ruche them up a bit. I got a jumper from Sosander with quite nice detail but I am not sure I want to spend £60 on it. I have also picked up a couple of blouses from Primark that are surprisingly quite nice but that's all I have found. Absolutely nothing in Marks and Spencer or Next. John Lewis has been disappointing as have the supermarkets.

@rolandsrat I also struggle as I can't wear anything high necked! What did you choose for your party in the end?

I've found a few dresses I like the look of but I worry I'm picking things with an old fashioned style/shape and will look a bit wrong...

I really like the first dress you’ve linked (green one) - I don’t think it looks old fashioned at all!

You can give it a try by wearing a black or white dress and adding some Christmas elements to your hairstyle and makeup.
