Has anyone got a recommendation for a good cleanser under £10 please? For normal to slightly dry mature skin.

I’m currently finishing a Lidl cleanser which I wouldn’t buy again, and have also used:l the following on the last couple of years:

Cerave (too drying)
Superdrug Vitamin E Hot Cloth - good
Superdrug B Cleanse - good but not keen on a balm so much
Simple cleansers - good but nothing special
Aldi hot cloth cleansers - loved these but can’t find them anymore
Aldi marine balm - not keen
L’Oreal cleansing milk (pink one) - stings skin

Which Cerave have you tried? I like the oil one.

It was the Hydrating Cleanser - I used it twice and my skin was so sore and tight afterwards for a few days. I have used once of their moisturisers without any issues and I don’t have sensitive skin but I presumably reacted to something in the Hydrating cleanser.

Byoma creamy jelly cleanser. I also found Cerave too drying after a while, switched to Byoma a year ago and haven’t looked back. It’s so gentle and leaves my skin feeling clean and soft.

I second Byoma. Gentle and not caused any breakouts or drying of my skin. Their range is very reasonably priced too.

I love the Soap and Glory Peaches and Clean cleanser from Boots - it makes my skin feel lovely and clean but without feeling dry or tight at all - I even have my husband using it now as well! And it smells lovely too. It’s about £8 I think, and a bottle lasts ages for me.

Ah I loved the Aldi hot cloth cleansers too - such good value! I’m currently using a Korean skincare style oil based cleanser called Planet Skin Triple Oil cleanser. I got mine from Costco and love it, comes in under a tenner a bottle.

To remove makeup I use coconut oil to massage the makeup off. Then a hot wet face cloth to wipe it off gently. Works perfectly and isnt drying at All.
Anything else makes my skin dry

M&S have brought out a gentle range for sensitive skin. They do a gel to milk cleanser that you rinse off and it’s lovely. It was £9 I think. I also like the Cerave oil cleanser. I’ve got very reactive skin and they’ve both been fine.

It sounds like you like a balm or cream cleanser more than a liquid foaming one?

If so you might struggle to find something good at that price point. What about The Ordinary's squalane cleanser? It's a fairly thick cream-like consistency but melts when you apply it. I don't find it drying or tight. You can rinse it or remove it with a cloth. It's about £15 though so a bit more than your budget.

My favourite balms are well outside your price point but I'll mention them if of interest - Then I Met You's living cleansing balm and Temple Spa's In the Beginning balm. They last such a long time that I think they are good value.

You could try Eucerin or Avene for other options, they are always good for sensitive skin. If your skin is a bit reactive then you could look at recommendations from Sali Hughes, she has sensitive skin and often does round ups of affordable high street skin care.

I use aqueous cream with a flannel
as a hot cloth cleanser (including to remove make up). It works brilliantly.

They have the blue range and the green range. I thibk the blue is gentler.

Have you tried a neutrogena one? I dont use the cleansers but I like the moisterisers.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 26/10/2025 09:20

I really like the Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid cleanser which is about £9.

youplaystupidgamesyouwinstupidprizes · 26/10/2025 09:20

In the Aldi I go to, the hot cloth cleansers are now on the aisle with the toiletries and are a regular product (not special buys on the middle aisle like they used to be).

DiscoBeat · 26/10/2025 09:36

I used the Aldi hot cloth cleanser too and was gutted when all my local stores stopped it. I now use mucear water followed by a wash with Procoal Glycolic Egg (which lasts forever!) and a hot cloth.

DiscoBeat · 26/10/2025 09:36

Micellar!!!

Freda69 · 26/10/2025 09:41

Avene cleanser for sensitive skin is excellent - often on special offer. I also use their toner. My skin reacts to almost everything due to lupus.

TeaRoseTallulah · 26/10/2025 09:43

ELF Holy Hydration balm

OchonAgusOchonOh · 26/10/2025 09:52

I use fairly random cleansing balms and find them all much of a muchness. The cheapest one is probably the Aldi one. Superdrug or boots will often have offers on different types of balms that would bring them down below £10. I use a muslin cloth and warm water up clean off the balm.

Bookloveruk · 26/10/2025 09:55

Look at boots £10 Tuesday and you can get some options. Find what works for you. Good luck. I like liz Earle cleanse and polish and it comes us on this offer

UpMyself · 26/10/2025 10:11

Baby lotion wiped off then rinsed with water.

Drachuughtty · 26/10/2025 10:31

Bufftailed · 26/10/2025 10:54

I find the ASDA own brand one fine, and I have sensitive skin

Coldsocold25 · 26/10/2025 10:57
