What do you think about chokers? Am going to a formal dinner and have attached pictures of the dress and prospective choker. Opinions appreciated

Beautiful!

HattieMacTattie · 25/10/2025 17:34

Love that!

It would get lost in my double chin, but, if you have the neck for it, it is stunning!

Bettine · 25/10/2025 17:46

The proportions and style is wonderful, but I would be wary of wearing (I assume!) large fake stones like that, as they can look so disappointing in real life. If you already own this piece, and you know it looks good, then obviously ignore that!

I would be tempted to wear a narrow strip of green velvet ribbon with a small brooch, or even a single earring sewn on.

Thank you!
@Bettine I also worry whether it might look cheap irl

do we think long sleeved velvety evening gloves might be a bit much?

In theory, lovely. But that picture looks AI generated so I'd be wondering what the real item looks like.

SliceofTosst · 25/10/2025 18:35

Also does it show the clasp? If it's cheap and nasty and you wear your hair up everyone except you will see it.

Sassylovesbooks · 25/10/2025 18:44

The dress is stunning and so is the choker, they compliment each other.

Hoppinggreen · 25/10/2025 18:48

How much is it? I would be concerned it looked cheap and nasty in real life

Sassylovesbooks · 25/10/2025 18:49

If you're concerned regarding the quality of the choker, then I can recommend Butler & Wilson, they do amazing statement necklaces and chokers. I have a few statement brooches, necklaces and my tiara for my wedding came from them too.

I think plain velvet opera gloves would look lovely with this gown, if it's a very formal, black tie event.
