Crepey skin on arms

What do you use (cream?) or do to help get rid of crepey skin on your arms?

interested if anything actually works

BigButtons · 21/10/2025 23:07

Weight lifting .nothing else will work . there is no quick fix . Creams will not work

That's interesting. I'm assuming not super heavy weights? Do you mean dumbbells?

Yep, afraid lifting weights is the only remedy, although I'm sure there's some sort of surgery that might help, but creams certainly won't

Pollqueen · 21/10/2025 23:11

Dumbells, weight bar, plates. Start light and work up

CharlotteSometimes1 · 21/10/2025 23:12

I agree, my arms don’t look crepey anymore and I lift heavy.

whimsicallyprickly · 21/10/2025 23:15

Any advice on an arm weight routine I could follow? Any utube video/influencer you'd recommend?

Googled crepey skin today. I need to drink more water and use a decent moisturiser, obviously Nivea is not good enough. Collagen supplement and weight lifting..I have trapped nerve in one shoulder and other shoulder damaged after dislocation. Feeling rubbish after successfully loosing 2stone in weight!
I now have a scraggly neck…always prided myself on how beautiful my neck was for a 60 + year old 🤦‍♀️Cannot win at this age !!

Super heavy is a relative term. It has to be heavy enough to challenge you and the muscle enough to grow. Flapping 1 kg weight around will not work. Invest in set of lighter weight dumbbells say 2-5 kg . It depends how serious you are about it really ?

Serious enough to follow a "get rid of crepey arm skin" video on utube, daily. Not serious enough to pay for gym membership

Sunscreen and retinol.

and exercise. But I’m hoping to prevent it and don’t have it yet. So no clue if it works…

BigButtons · 22/10/2025 07:04

@whimsicallyprickly it takes time and consistency. There is no quick fix and it is far better to do a weight lifting routine that works the entire body over a week. Women really do need to protect their bones.

Clarins body firming lotion.
HRT

Back21970 · 22/10/2025 07:51

A decent body cream definitely helps a bit - I am using Clarins Body Firming at the moment religiously as have a holiday in December.

Even the process of rubbing it in daily seems to be improving them slightly.

Targeted arm exercises too, don’t know if it has to be heavy weights though.

Following for additional tips!

Light self tan does help the appearance too slightly, IMO.

Yabayabadoo · 22/10/2025 08:16

Microneedling is meant to help but never tried it, there are some home devices too

Go to a class like body pump, or get a few sessions with a PT.
You need to have good technique.

Exercises that will help are tricep raises, tricep dips and bicep curls.

CharlotteCChapel · 22/10/2025 10:23

It's asign of aging. I remember my gran had the same as me. Moisturiser doesn't help. I think accepting that you have it is for the best.

ChersHeart · 22/10/2025 10:34
It will give you an idea, but I'd get someone who knows their stuff to watch you doing the exercises. There are probably better vids around.

Do them with light weights to start with.
Do the same exercises for both arms.

Check out Caroline Girvan- she is super amazing- but tough.

Arregaithel · 22/10/2025 11:16

@whimsicallyprickly I'd second what @BigButtons suggests

Caroline Girvan; Hover over for description of each workout and choose suitable

Perhaps Epic beginners to start?

Yes weights is the only thing that has really helped my loose skin in different places, as the muscle fills in a very flattering way compared to fat.

Summerhillsquare · 22/10/2025 13:46

I started on bio oil after losing a lot of weight. I can't say it's made much improvement but it hasn't got any worse.

Even weightlifting doesn’t work.. gives me muscle definition but doesn’t change elasticity of skin. The only think that has helped is oestrogen in HRT.

ThePoshUns · 22/10/2025 14:16

I find the Nivea q10 body cream is helping the skin on my arms.
