What do you use (cream?) or do to help get rid of crepey skin on your arms?

Even weightlifting doesn’t work.. gives me muscle definition but doesn’t change elasticity of skin. The only think that has helped is oestrogen in HRT.

It fills out the space- tbh lifting has really improved the quality of my skin generally- I see a noticeable difference in the smoothness and plumpness especially in my face. Lifting helps to stimulate collagen

Shea butter

I hate the word crepey. It’s possibly from the 1950s when crepe paper was more of a thing? Anyway, I usually just wear short sleeves to cover it or I don’t worry.

Same, it’s filled out my skin in a way I thought wasn’t possible, even my apron from c sections. And it’s so flattering on the face too

who would have thought weight lifting would improve your face! it really does though

I echo those who recommend the weights, though much depends on looseness of skin if there's been a significant weight loss, i.e. more muscle needed to fill the volume. Once you're of a certain age, in my case 70+, building muscle mass, while by no means impossible, requires more effort.

If creams worked, there wouldn't be threads like this. Same for stretch marks.
I do use body lotion, Nivea, to make my skin less reptilian and flaky but it doesn't affect crepiness.

Murad Resculpt Body is THE BEST, and it works.

I’d been a devotee of Clarins Firming Body Cream for ages (recommended here by PP), but the Murad which contains retinol is amazing and makes a huge difference much more quickly. Also great on problem areas on the stomach and legs. Honestly, it is INCREDIBLE with visible results from the first use.

Murad was recommended when I asked ChatGPT which were the best rated body firming products (and the Clarins one didn’t make the list!) 🤭

Seen alot of advertising but having used alot of creams I am wondering what makes this one actually work?

Googled crepey skin today. I need to drink more water and use a decent moisturiser, obviously Nivea is not good enough. Collagen supplement and weight lifting..I have trapped nerve in one shoulder and other shoulder damaged after dislocation. Feeling rubbish after successfully loosing 2stone in weight!
I now have a scraggly neck…always prided myself on how beautiful my neck was for a 60 + year old 🤦‍♀️Cannot win at this age !!

Sounds like you know what to do! Def weight training and something like pilates is good for looking more toned.
After a certain age skin will wrinkle and crepe and only surgery can get rid of it. So I think the best thing to do is look very fit and healthy....people will know you are older but think you look amazing for it anyway!😃

So true, I guess there are muscles everywhere! When you look at proper weightlifters they all have well structured faces that seem to act as scaffolding as they age

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 23/10/2025 11:04

I've found Pilates has helped my arms a lot - it's all the planking. But ultimately gravity will pull your skin around so the only answer is to have less loose skin, however you do this.

I'm in my sixties. Loads of exercise, weights, Pilates etc. I still note the skin on my arms creeping towards the floor when I'm leaning over them.

Check out Caroline Girvan- she is super amazing- but tough.

I've got links to her stuff. Excellent. I don't have bingo wings or crepey skin (early 40s) but want to prevent it!

UmberMoose · 23/10/2025 13:01

I generally put nivea but sometimes the tret or the la roche posays cream if they are near to expiry from my below routine for my face. Morning:
Using water to wash your face,
Sebamed clear face gel,
la roche posay spf
Evening:
la roche posay moisturizer,
Tretinoin (0.1) from skinorac
Sebamed clear facial gel

That's interesting. I'm assuming not super heavy weights? Do you mean dumbbells?

In actual fact heavy weights are not the enemy here, particularly useful to aim to lift heavy (for you, that differs for everyone, the important thing is to lift as heavy as you can manage and take the muscles to point of fatigue) as women age, to maintain muscle mass and increase bone density. Much more useful than lots of repetitions with light weights.

Back21970 · 23/10/2025 18:20

Off to Google the Murad body cream and dig out my hand weights 😀

WearyAuldWumman · 23/10/2025 19:07

I've worked up to 4kg weights. (I'm 65 and had two shoulder ops.)

However, I agree with ThePoshUns that Nivea Q10 makes a difference. I use Nivea Firming + Extra Nourishing Body Lotion Q10. It made a noticeable improvement even before I reached the 4kg stage. (My trainer started me on 2kg weights.)

I have now added a retinol serum or cream which I put on my arms and 'orrible belly etc after my post-workout shower.

Same, and I’ve no idea how this one works so well but it honestly does. It’s quite thick and at first I used too much but less is just as good, and I apply it just to the problem areas (there’s a lot 😂). The almost immediate difference was incredible and for me it’s been worth every penny. It’s also made an incredible difference to my neck and chest and I’ve only been wiping the excess off my hands on these areas.

ClaredeBear · 23/10/2025 19:45

100% heavy weights. It’s relative but you can work up and really challenge yourself if you’re to put on some muscle which is really important anyway as we age. Super beneficial all round

MyBeloved · 23/10/2025 19:49

Yoga. My body hasn't looked this good in years and im in my late 50s.

thedogdaysareover51 · 23/10/2025 20:00

Agree weights-Caroline Girvan’s workouts are great. I haven’t been in a gym since lockdown and love working out at home. Try and work up to heavy weights and increase protein intake.
HRT
A body cream containing retinol or AHAs.

CowCat · 23/10/2025 20:06

Nadine Baggott recommends Profhilo and radiofrequency microneedling, as well as over-the-counter products containing retinol and exfoliating acids.

I definitely don't eat enough protein. What's an easy way of upping it?

Eat more of it- at least 100 a day- make sure it is the main stay of every meal you have - again it all depends on how serious you are at committing to your on going health as you age . If you were sensible you would start- forget about your arms.
