M&S advent calendar - can I return the 'qualifying purchase'?

And keep the advent calendar without having to pay full price for it?

I ordered boots and saw I could get the advent calendar at the special low price because I'd spent enough. But the boots have arrived and I don't like them.

The calendar's being sent separately, and I'm assuming I'll want to keep it. Will I have to pay the extra £450 or whatever it was for the calendar if I return the boots? Worst that happens is I have to return the calendar too I suppose.

Why not ask M&S?

PomPomSugar · 21/10/2025 15:50

They just wont refund the full amount for the boots - they will take off the 'additional' cost of the AC off of the refund.

Yeah, I guess I could but thought I'd get a quicker answer here.

Ime, if you return the boots you will get a refund minus the cost of the calendar.
if you could keep the free item, everyone would order stuff and just return it and keep the calendar.

SmashingGemini · 21/10/2025 15:52

You can return the boots and keep the calendar at the lower price. I bought pyjamas to qualify for the calendar and they didn’t fit well. I returned to store and I was refunded with no questions asked.

Yes, probably. And I'll then owe them. So I'll return the calendar as well, it's not exactly an essential so no great loss.

It wasn't free, but there was a significant discount on it if you spent £x.

Or a snarkier answer 🙄

Sorry I don't know the answer op, but I'd assume the refund will deduct whatever the difference is between full cost AC and what you've paid already.

@SmashingGemini's post suggests otherwise, so hopefully that's the case.

That's interesting, thank you. So maybe I do get to have 24 weird and wonderful beauty products to find a home for in December!

I completed the online return form which generated a QR code, I don’t think the shop assistant would have even known I’d bought the calendar. She just scanned the code and refunded the cost of the pyjamas.

RedRiverShore5 · 21/10/2025 16:04

I have returned what I bought in previous years and got my full refund back. If you complete the online return it tells you what your refund is..

campista · 21/10/2025 16:04

I bought a frock that I then returned. No problems with the discounted calendar, not even mentioned
You get to keep the calendar

Catwalking · 21/10/2025 18:31

Is the calendar offer still going? …….🤭

RedRiverShore5 · 21/10/2025 18:47

Since you have until January to return things as it's Christmas returns timescale now, I doubt they would want a stream of £60 calendars being returned through to mid January 😆

janehopper · 21/10/2025 19:00

Yeah you can return it and keep the calendar

Theraffarian · 21/10/2025 19:05

I returned jeans last year that didn’t fit , full refund for those , and kept the advent calendar at the discounted price , no issue at all

AnyQuestions101 · 21/10/2025 19:18

Yes, you absolutely can, I did it myself when the shoes I bought didn’t fit

a222 · 21/10/2025 19:19

when you return the item don’t draw attention to the calendar offer. i can guarantee whoever is on the till won’t be looking at penny pinching for the sake of a huge corporation. unless they’re a square and you tell them about it.

Mumof2wifeof1crazytimes · 21/10/2025 19:41

I ordered the calendar with 2 tops, both have been returned as the fit was terrible. I kept the calendar and I got a full refund for the 2 tops. This was only last week so I would say you are ok to keep the calendar.
