I need VERY wide shoes to go with this dress, plus poss jacket/hat/bag ideas

This is the dress (finding plus size maternity wear suitable for a wedding is nigh on impossible, so this was my only option, and thankfully looks ok on).

I have very wide feet (25cm at widest point, which means EEE feeting apparently), and due to a lack of some arch or other, have to have a strap of some sort to stop them falling off.

So far, these are the only shoes I can find that look like they might fit. Do you think they will go? If not, can you find something better in a size 6.5 or 7? Not too delicate a heel please, as I am not dainty! Would be nice not to wear crocs just for one day!

Wedding is mid-July, so I'm hoping I won't need a jacket, but just in case, what would go? Needs to be available in bigger than a 22, so forget all Monsoon and Next suggestions!

I don't really suit hats (and have an enormous head too - noticing a theme ), but am open to suggestions for something to wear on head. Hair is short if it makes any difference.

Finally, bag suggestions please!

how about these then

Helen also with matching bags...

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/06/2008 13:45

I don't fit a 22 . Only a couple (in wildly unsuitable colours!) bigger than that.

Sorry - that's me misreading your OP on the 22. Would you be OK to say what size? Don't worry if not - will just keep looking for things with a good variety of sizes available.

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/06/2008 13:48

No strap to hold Helen on sadly, which is a shame, as they are quite pretty.

Depends on brand and whether it's maternity or not really. Most likely a 26 I would think.

A contender or do we think it will look just as bad in the flesh as it does in the pic?!

OP posts:
Heifer · 05/06/2008 13:51

sorry I thought that as the straps were high on the feet that they would be ok.

JackieNo · 05/06/2008 13:54

I wonder whether this blue would work. Mind you, wouldn't exactly keep you warm, would it!
Lightweight jacket?

Heifer · 05/06/2008 13:55

not sure about your budget, but something like this?

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/06/2008 13:55

Maybe I should just pray for good weather, and put my woolly cream poncho in the car just in case!

I rather like the metallic one. I have heard that SimplyBe quality isn't great, mind. Still - worth a try, I reckon.

Heifer · 05/06/2008 13:58

this, no sure how close the colour is to the dress

JackieNo · 05/06/2008 14:01

Expensive but good quality (though a 7 week wait).
Maybe?

margoandjerry · 05/06/2008 14:02

How about something like this (sorry about the cost). Have posted these already today. I have very wide feet (24cm - I just measured inspired by your post) and I wear this style of Hobbs shoe all the time and they don't come off.

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/06/2008 14:04

lol at the idea of the 'blue mesh jacket' keeping me warm .

I have a week to go before my holiday, and 2 weeks after I get back, so I think I'll try and get the duo shoes now to see if they fit/co-ordinate, and poss the evans bridal shrug, and if they don't work then I'll go through the other suggestions again after hols.

Heifer - the Elvi one is lovely (and budget not too much of an issue), but I really don't think it will go with the dress.

Thanks for all your help ladies. Will update this thread as and when things arrive and get ruled in or out.

Sorry - am cross posting lots because dd asleep on my lap so one handed! Will go look at those last few now. If I disappear then it's because dd has woken and we've gone to make lunch.

Am loving the spirito ones! Might order a bigger size in the first one (can't wait 7 weeks!) and see if I'm swamped, and the smaller size in the second.

Of course I've just realised that I have a grey single button cardi that may work already (from Evans last year) so should prob double check whether that goes first .

margo - was it a particular pair you linked to, or the general style? Am liking the strappy Lana ones on page 2. Do they really fit comfortably on wide feet?

OP posts:
margoandjerry · 05/06/2008 14:49

sorry, meant these

I have an unhealthy number of hobbs shoes in this style and I find them extremely comfortable. I have terrible feet - really wide plus a really high arch. Nightmare, but these I genuinely find comfortable and stable (am prone to tripping over nothing )

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/06/2008 15:13

That's the same link!

oh blimey! It's the turquoise ones top left! Thought they might go with the dress.

twinsetandpearls · 05/06/2008 18:32

silver shoes with strap in wide fit, they look similar to something above but not sure if they are the same ones.

Ladies - thought you might like to see what I have gone for in the end, as I always hate not knowing what somebody chose after loads of help.

I got the shoes that I linked to originally, and was still unsure whether they were right or not, but managed yesterday to get some other bits which I think tie it all in together.

This picture shows my fascinator with the dress and a little silver bag, and this one shows a wrap that I got for half price in the John Lewis sale, which has both the grey that is needed for this outfit, plus beige and brown which make it ideal for the rest of my wardrobe .

Will still be desperate to change into some crocs after an hour or less though .
