Re-occurring spots!

I’m 50 and for what seems like years I have a scattering of spots on my chin that seem to go away and then flare up again in exactly the same place. It’s like there’s perpetual redness/scarring there and they will flare up again as actual spots.

I wondered if it was rosacea so been using Rosex for a few weeks but the blimmin spots still pop up. They respond to azelic acid, but then re-occur.

Anyone else experienced this??

Ingrowing chin hairs? I get reoccurring chin spots which are based around hairs. Delightful.

In my 50’s too and I use 47 Skin cleanser and serum and my spots have completely gone.

Their peel off silver mask is fab too if I feel a spot brewing under the skin.

I have this on the left side of my chin. Now I’m in my fifties this is where I’m getting a patch of facial hair too. Horrible.

Good cleansing twice a day and tret every other night has improved it but sometimes the only thing it responds to is BHA Liquid, I use Paula’s Choice. Horrible stuff, but it works in hours.

I tried the 47 serum but no joy, maybe I’ll try the cleanser too. @BankfieldForever a use my ignorance, what is BHA and tret?

yeah I have this too OP, I've been using tret for a year now and the rest of my skin is fab but the reoccurring chin spots are still there, I've two at the moment!

I had recurring spots alon my jawline. It was foliculitis and a topical antibiotic did the job of getting rid of them.

marmiteloversunite · 21/10/2025 22:09

I had this when I was going through peri-menopause. I had never really had spots before but during that time they were continual and I tried everything to get rid of them. I feel your pain.

ObtuseMoose · 21/10/2025 22:10

I had awful menopausal acne, Boots own Retinol moisturiser completely cleared it up.

Paula’s choice is a Beta Hydroxy Acid, a chemical exfoliant. There are other types of chemical exfoliants (AHA, lactic acid etc) that do the same job.

Tretinoin, a type of retinoid cream easily available for about £25 a month only from prescription services like Skin&Me or Dermatica.
