Pikolinos: size up or down?

I bought some pikolinos ankle boots online. I’m normally a size 6 (sometimes 5.5). I used their fancy online size calculator and it told me I was their size 5-5.5 rather than 6-6.5.

The boots arrived and felt comfy when I wore them round the house… so I wore them to go out and felt more and more uncomfortable as the day wore on.

I doubt if I can send them back now, and anyway I guess they will ease over time, but I am wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue. Should I have sized up? I’m gutted because other than squeezing my toes they are gorgeous.

I tried 3 pairs of Picolino boots on only yesterady and I agree, the styling is lovely and the leather is so soft! However I think (from yesterday's experience) that they are a narrowish fit so all the extra length in the world won't help if they're actually too narrow.
