Help for interview/office wear

So despite the username, I am a size 22 with a huge tummy. I've recently been made redundant from a job where leggings, hoodies etc were the norm. Not had to wear "proper clothes" unless going out or attending weddings, for MANY years.

Any ideas for interview/office wear? Short dresses/skirts out of the question. Big arms, big legs, huge tummy.

Wide leg with shirts? I'm so out of touch, pls help!

I have an interview next week. I’m planning to wear wide leg trousers and a blouse.

Sorry you lost your job. I just bought this dress and it is lovely. It’s quite a strong sculptural shape. I think it would look great for interview with a brown or blue jacket, and it’s half price! If you don’t like this, maybe think about a plainish streamlined dress. When I’m a size 22, the waist is always tricky and blouses don’t sit right on me. I’m less self conscious in a dress .

That's a really nice dress.
Here's links to it which show more detail.

Actually you've made me realised I lied... I do love a dress with trainers in the summer! That's a lovely dress but if I had to wear a shoe with it, due to chunky calves I'd look like an elderly matron aunt! Unless maybe a long boot?

That dress has a Toast vibe to it. It's ideal for flat shoes, pumps, loafers or brogues, clogs like the model's flat, laced ankle boots, Chelsea boots or flat knee boots. Basically any of the footwear on the Toast site.

You will not look like "an elderly matron [maiden?] aunt" [and why would that be bad? ] if you wear shoes. You will look smarter and up to date with shoes - trainers and dresses are a bit past it. If you really can't face wearing shoes, then boots will be fine.

Good luck with the job search

I’ll be wearing it with boots, either brown suede knee boots or black ankle boots. I’ve got a rich brown cord jacket, but I saw some brown Borg jackets on Next clearance, and a lovely navy quilted jacket, in your size. Slightly quirky can bolster confidence, don’t think you have to pair it with a blazer.. Dont worry about your calves, you are allowed to exist in the world, and so are your legs. If you wore shoes it would be fine . I’m not sure what tights though, I’ll probably wear cotton, either beige or navy.

Sounds perfect.

I'm a size 22 with big tummy (I am also quite tall at 5ft 8).
I work in a professional environment (big 4)
I don't like tight stuff around my tummy, although I have some plain black trousers that do the job, with nice blouse. My main go-to is a longish dress, below knee, but not maxi dress, not heavy material. Sleeves have to be mid upper arm or longer (no bingo wings). For work I sometimes have a light cardigan, or I would wear a jacket over for interview. I always wear light make up and I always wear jewellery or, sometimes a scarf - whether you like it or not the last few things make you look "better turned out". I sometimes get away with plain spotlessly clean trainers, other times I take shoes in my bag and I swap into them. There will be those, no doubt that say "you don't need to wear make up, you don't need to wear jewellery to be successful in business, men don't have to do that sh*t". They may well be right, but in my world it is important to "look acceptable", makes you feel better, more confident, and that is what counts, and for very little effort. Incidentally, VINTED is really your friend here, dresses for less than a fiver and you can work out what suits you. xx

This time of year I’d be wearing sweater dresses with opaque tights and ankle boots
I’m down to an 18 from size 22 and have them in navy, black, charcoal, camel, plum and a dark teal
