Do Levi’s shrink (particularly length)

I’ve found some I like but dithering on the length. The 30 is OK, but I’d have preferred a 31 to allow for shrinkage/general riding up. However, the only do 30 & 32. I’m sure the 32 will be too long!

Never happened to me.

No, they don’t shrink length wise but you need to size down on the waist because they do stretch. The lighter the dye the more they stretch.

Some Levi's have stretch in them and some don't. The website description will tell you.

I have never had any shrinkage with Levi's at all. I wash at 30 and hang to dry.

Never.

Jujujudo · 19/10/2025 15:08

If you’re worried about them being too short then get the longer ones and pay to have them professionally hemmed so you can’t tell. I tend to prefer too long to too short. My newish Levi’s (I bought 501 90’s style) have definitely stretched on wearing and I’ve not noticed any shrinkage yet.

It depends on the style. 100% cotton Levis do shrink and they often say on the label to expect it. The ones with elastic, in my experience, don't shrink.

Thanks everyone. I think I'd need to go for the 32 length as the 30 is just borderline too short. Not sure if I want to get them hemmed so will have a think.

So annoying they don't do 31 in the style I want!

I’m sure at the levi’s shop in meadowhall they do hemming for free…. Not sure if that’s helpful or not.

Levi's do shrink a bit after the first wash, in my experience!
