I’m thinking of blepharoplasty.

Is anyone who has had this surgery happy to post their before and after pictures . My own problem is to me my eyes look deep set and I feel my eye balls pop out . I have had a consultation today and I could have surgery to make them look less deep set . I have very few assets ( flat chest , poorly defined waist , broad back ) that make me feel feminine so this little bit of surgery would likely do my self esteem a bit of good if it goes the way I hope .

To minimise time off work that adds to the cost of having elective surgery I would like to have the surgery over Xmas ( I’m self employed ) but I’m not feeling very supported by the family. Tell me it’s worth it .

I’m thinking of blepharoplasty.

Also, I’m dubious about what this surgeon has said about having a surgery to make them less deep set, unless it’s fat transfer?

CalamityK8 · 15/10/2025 15:57

Just to add, I have very hooded eyes, and even with my sort of eyes I don't always think the surgery makes them look better, just different (@thedogdaysareover51 is an exception, they look lovely).

In fact I often think hooded eyes look prettier / more attractive before - it actually can change your expression, especially when you smile.

If my eyesight becomes impaired by the fold of skin above, only then would I do something about it.

Blepharoplasty takes away excess fat/skin, you don’t seem to have any. I think upper eyelid filler would make a huge difference though, check out Dr Joshua on instagram, he has a clinic in London.

I agree. There's no extra fat there which does cause vision issues. @Souredgrapes has beautiful eyes. I would go to the clinic with an open mind. They may have a different solution much more suited to you.

Happyjoe · 15/10/2025 16:01

You have lovely pre raphaelite eyes, once considered a thing of beauty! Your eye looks grand to me but am a fan of do whatever it is to make you happy. Just make sure surgery will do that.

TheCaribbeanIsCallingMe · 15/10/2025 16:12

I had this 2 years ago. Still VERY pleased with it. Had no pain with it. I was 53 when I had it done. Go for it, honestly you will love it.

Should have said, I got upper and lower bleph at the same time.

Is upper eye filler even a 'thing'?

I know that tear trough is potentially dangerous, and has to be done carefully.
I am happy to be corrected but I've never seen upper eye filler on any reputable sites.

There are however various ways of tightening the skin on the upper lids, but I've also read that some types of droopy eyes are improved by lifting the forehead- obviously a much bigger op.

SwedishEdith · 15/10/2025 17:26

I watch that Facebook group and I don't think the OP's eyes have the sagging skin that bleph surgery seems to fix. You can see your eyelid. Honestly, I wouldn't mess with them. The group is worth joining though to see the range of changes it can make for some people and to also hear where it goes wrong.

SoEasyToFallInLove · 15/10/2025 17:27

Don’t do it. They look awful.

Souredgrapes · 15/10/2025 17:53

Hi . I’ve read through all your posts and thank you so much for the lovely words , for the pictures , for taking time to air your concerns. I’m still at work but will jump back on later and reply a bit more thoughtfully to some of the questions. X

I am following with interest. My eyes are just disappearing under my eyelids. My father was the same so I know what’s coming.

It’s the recovery time that puts me off. I am keen to hear people’s stories.

Me, one week after surgery at Signature Clinic, in Manchester, just after having stitches out, and then 4 days later.

It’s a thing, sounds weird but it’s really subtle yet makes a huge difference. There aren’t many people who offer it as it’s really specialist and difficult to get right.

DiscoNights · 15/10/2025 19:26

I’d quite like a blepheroplasty at some stage. One of my eyelids is much worse than the other. It’s the side I sleep on. I can’t believe how much it’s affected that eye.

CatAsstrophe · 15/10/2025 19:33

I've saved the thread below for future reference. The result is fabulous!

I don’t think a blephoroplasty will do what you want. It isn’t your eyelids you have a problem with - you have a hollow superior sulcus caused by loss of fat from the orbit. This can be helped by filler but you need to see an oculo-plastic surgeon for this as it’s a specialised procedure.

I had it done, under local anaesthetic at Signature Clinic about 4 years ago. It was very good value and I’m delighted with it. I have green eyes which are one of my better features and I like wearing eye makeup.
I had hardly any bruising, stitches came out after a week. I just got on with life as normal under some sunglasses.

I’ve been thinking of using Signature. I’m desperate to have mine done.

But your 'before' eyes are very different to the OP.

I looked at his website and wasn't impressed to be honest. He's not been practising that long. There are better places in Harley St.

The before and after photo was of a very young, pretty woman whose eyes looked beautiful to start with. It was very hard to see any difference.

Souredgrapes · 15/10/2025 23:33

Hi . Ive included a snap shot of the letter I received from the clinic . Many of you are right regarding excess skin in that I don’t have a lot of this or fat . It was pointed out to me the operation is mainly about repositioning the crease of my eye lid and less about removing excess skin.

I have tried Botox but I ended up looking spok’ed and felt my brow was very heavy. I didn’t like the result .

Your lovely comments about not really needing this procedure have made me think twice so I will sit on my decision for a few days .

I’ve also added a picture of my eye from my wedding day just 10 years ago. You can see just how much my eye has changed and what I’m hoping effect from the procedure to reposition my eye lid.

I’m thinking of blepharoplasty.

I did say to check his instagram. I’m interested to look at the better places on Harley St that offer this?

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 16/10/2025 06:57

Don’t get hung up on Harley Street. It isn’t a mark of quality, just an address where anyone can rent a suite of rooms if they have enough money.

I don't have Instagram @Gervhill

The Cosmetic Skin Clinic has been around for around 20 years and Dr Mountford has won numerous awards for her work.

I know a friend who used them. Dr M isn't taking new clients, and she used to have a 6 month waiting list anyway, but her team are excellent, according to my friend. Many are dual qualified doctors and dentists.

TorroFerney · 16/10/2025 07:32

I’ve just had it done. Mine was because the skin was starting to obstruct my vision. I’ve very small deep set eyes - I still have very small deep set eyes, it won’t alter that.

Barney16 · 16/10/2025 07:36

I have had fillers and about to have fillers again and that lifts my eyes because it puts in volume above the eye, sort of lower and side forehead if you see what I mean. I have had Botox too and always ask them to put a bit at the outer edge if my eyebrow to give a bit of lift. Having said that you would get a good result from the surgery I think so go for it. Everything I have had has been lovely, really boosts confidence.
