Make up help after upper bleph

I had an upper bleph 3 and a bit weeks ago and I’m very happy with it.

I can finally wear eyeshadow and mascara etc but have no clue what to buy. I’m 50 and like Matt colours not glittery.

Please can anyone suggest a palette and mascara please? I used to wear black. Happy to splurge a bit for decent stuff. Thank you.

What colours do you fancy or know suit you?
The Urban Decay Naked ones are good but have a mixture of matte/shimmer in them. I’ve had three different ones over the years and used all of the shades in them.
Im deep autumn in colouring according to AI.
mascara I love Lancôme Hypnose but I wear it in black, I’m 53.

Do you have a big Boots near you, or decent department store with a cosmetic department? I had my makeup done at the Helena Rubinstein counter because I liked the assistant’s eye make up, and the next week at the Benefit counter - two entirely different approaches and looks, and the two assistants advised each step of the way. Really helped.

I have dark brown eyes and used to go for grey or light purple. I’m a bit out of touch as I’ve not worn eye make up for about ten years Blush

I have a John Lewis near by. I will give that a go. Do I just go in and ask them to help?

I always find Bobbi Brown helpful. Particularly if you aren’t sure what you need. I like their cream eye shadow sticks, a good range of colours and matt or more shimmery. You ask them to try a couple of looks on you.

TheBewleySisters · 03/10/2025 09:10

@UpperBlephyes, just go up to the counter and say you’re looking for advice on eye makeup. I find that normally they can’t wait to get their hands on you. The expectation is that you will buy a product in return for the make-up session, but it’s not compulsory.

Wow, I'm having one next year - facelift this year and the surgeon says I can't have an upper bleph for another year after that.
I've seen so many dodgy ones on celebrities I'm just not sure whether to go there.
Any chance of a photo.

UpperBleph · 04/10/2025 08:48

I went to John Lewis as advised and was accosted by a Charlotte tilbury consultant. I bought a palette and really like it, this is the purple pinky brown! Thanks for recommendations

Just posted one. I’m very happy I did it. I went to Amsterdam though as it’s cheaper than here and my friend had hers done there in the summer with amazing results.

@UpperBleph You look fantastic! Would you mind sharing details of where you went and who did the procedure?

Thank you! I went to Faceland in Amsterdam and had Dr Serge Steenen. He’s very experienced and was lovely but I’ve seen one of two doctors at Faceland who I don’t think do a great job with the scars so if you do go there, I would recommend Dr Serge or Dr Jork. Dr Serge took ages drawing them up to make sure the scars are in my natural crease and even this soon you can hardly see them. It’s much cheaper than here (£540) but you have to sort your own flights and hotel.

That looks fantastic. I. Going to Nords in Lithuania.

Gosh what a fantastic outcome.
What was it like travelling back after the op - did you have to stay at the hotel for a couple of days after before travelling?
I think I'll need an upper and lower bleph but I worry about travelling abroad - can picture myself being a swollen misery trying to fly back and frightening small children.

It was easy, it’s totally painless so I spend a few hours sightseeing (with big sunglasses on) then flew home same day. Faceland only do uppers though. Even the auto passport machines were okay and let me through.

Oh that's fabulous, sounds really easy. I think upper bleph will be necessary before lower so this is on my list to get sorted in the next 2 years. I'll look into this, thank you for all the info you've provided here, it's really useful.

CatAsstrophe · 05/10/2025 12:28

@UpperBleph I looked on the website and it says to return after a week to have the stitches removed. Who removed your stitches?

I did. If you’re in the UK you do them yourself. It’s very easy. Some people go to their nurse practitioner but it’s so simple I didn’t need help.

Wow, that is completely transformative, thank you so much for sharing. I have been thinking about getting one for a while now and with that recommendation and the price I can’t think of any reason to put it off any longer!

CatAsstrophe · 05/10/2025 19:30

That's good to know about the removal of stitches @UpperBleph , thank you!

UpperBleph · 06/10/2025 19:58

There’s a good Facebook group called something like blepharoplasty UK with lots of before and afters and recommendations of clinics in the UK too if you don’t fancy going abroad, there’s a place in Manchester that has good results too. @everymeeveryyou

May I ask… Did you have general anaesthetic or local?

£540? I thought it was thousands. The result is amazing. I'm looking into it right now!

It’s local, they inject your eye lids and after that you can’t feel a thing. It’s strange as it looks like it should be really painful but you don’t even need a paracetamol after.
