Is there a shower gel that moisturises?

I forget to moisturise all the time ( due to a mixture of depression/adhd/possibly autistic) and wondered if there's a shower gel that actually moisturises?

Plenty of options for shower gel and soap bars. As a starting point look at the ingredients. If you see anything that says sulphate or sulfate it will be drying.

Hi
Nivea soft does somewhat but still doesn't beat a proper moisturiser

AlphabetBird · 14/10/2025 21:00

You can get nice shower oils, these might do the trick. Aldi has an almond one at the moment for a fiver that smells much more expensive

wherewillwegoto · 14/10/2025 21:11

I'll look into Nivea Soft and the shower oil thanks.

I use a foaming shower gel for my armpits and groin, but only ever use E45 bath oil on my body. I've "bought into" the myth that if it doesn't foam, it's not cleaning you.

Finding a shower gel without SLS is difficult. But locciatain almond oil is good, and so is a a lot of Liz Earle bath stuff.

Even things like Johnson's Baby Bath has/had (haven't checked it recently) SLS in it. My dermatologist told me many people react badly to SLS, a foaming agent, and I should avoid it at all costs. But usually, SLS is what makes the foam. The two brands I've mentioned both use, I think, a type of tree bark to foam.

Poppingby · 14/10/2025 21:22

My Dr just told me to use moisturizer so I just use aveno

DappledThings · 14/10/2025 21:26

Does it matter if you "forget" to mosturise? I've never done it and don't consider that something that needs rectifying.

CrystalShoe · 14/10/2025 21:28

Dove body washes are supposed to be moisturising, and they're shower gel-adjacent. They're more like shower creams, I think. I find gels are a little on the drying side by their nature, so you might want the body wash.

These all look moisturising:

I use Nivea soft most of the time , add in L’occataine Almond Oil 4or 5 times a week. I’m low effort and these shower “soaps” work for me .

hollyjolly68 · 14/10/2025 21:34

Source coconut and shea butter is moisturing

Whatabouterry · 14/10/2025 21:36

It’s very expensive but the L’Occitaine almond shower oil is really lovely and makes my skin feel great.

fourelementary · 14/10/2025 21:37

QV body wash is moisturising. I think you could
also get it on prescription if that was cheaper

Largestlegocollectionever · 14/10/2025 21:39

L’octaine Almond Shower oil, I actually put it on at the end and don’t rinse off, I pat it dry 😆

Lourdes12 · 14/10/2025 21:50

Dove soap bar

CharlotteCChapel · 14/10/2025 21:52

Pears, it also smells gorgeous.

Sulphates create foam and bubbles . You don’t need foam or bubbles to clean and you even acknowledge it’s drying and artificial. Why are you doing it?!

TMMC1 · 14/10/2025 22:28

Try https://www.frenchsoaps.co.uk/collections/collections-1l-marseille-liquid-soap, all sulfate free so last ages and aren’t drying

GAJLY · 14/10/2025 22:38

Olive oil soap.

SixSeven · 14/10/2025 22:40

Another vote for l’occitane almond oil. Smells divine and doesn’t make the shower slippery unlike some others I’ve used.

Diplidocus4 · 14/10/2025 22:42

L’Occitane Almond oil , I’m kind enough to share it too !

Hanschristiananderson · 14/10/2025 22:45

GAJLY · 14/10/2025 22:38

Olive oil soap.

This is what I use. All shower gels strip my skin and make it itchy.

JaniceBattersby · 14/10/2025 22:51

L’Occitane almond shower oil has been genuinely life changing for me. I’d had allergen-related eczema all my life until I started using L’Occitane. I’ve barely had any since. I also have very naturally dry skin and it’s really helped that. Worth every penny IMO. You can also get a spray oil that I use in summer instead of moisturiser when I need my legs to be acceptable for public consumption.

Because I bought into the myth? Did you miss that bit?

75 years of conditioning are not easily overcome.

I use Olivia olive oil soap. It's great and also very cheap:

Flomingho · 15/10/2025 02:13

The Dove and Nivea ones feel like they moisturise.
