She is going to be mother of the bride next Summer - yay!
Petite - 5'4", size 8/10. Beautiful long red hair, hazel eyes.
Register office followed by reception in a field.

Would like to wear a dress, but wants to feel comfortable.
Likes blues and greens, clear colours.

Budget, she's frugal, but wants to look and feel amazing. Up to £500 including shoes etc.
Any ideas?

How about this as a starter for 10? Would need a strapless bra and arm confidence! Would be good with a little jacket for the ceremony.

It looks like it’s tucked in her knickers by accident! Lovely colour and material but I really don’t like the skirt section.

Hobbs do a nice green dress called Sophie, link won’t work for some reason.

If she’s mother of the bride next summer, I’d wait until Spring to buy an outfit. Now all the winter stuff is in the shops.

True, but right now the Outlet sections of various shops’ websites may have some bargains from the summer!

Way too early! Why so soon?

I'd look at hobbs petite range

Monsoon? They can do some lovely summer dresses that are just a little bit more showy than normal, perfect for a bride! They also do wedding and bridesmaid dresses afaik, tho not shopped with them for a couple of years.

Something like this would look gorgeous with her red hair!

Some lovely ideas here! She is a two times breast cancer survivor, who has chosen not to reconstruct, so perhaps strappy is a bit too challenging for her. I appreciate it's too early to shop, but I want to give her some ideas of where to look and get ideas. I just want her to feel as fabulous as she is as a human, and perhaps encourage her to have a bit more confidence. Thanks for your help everyone, keep them coming!

On long term sick & getting Income protection from my employer. They are strongly hinting at dismissing me.
The income protection pays me 50% of salary for a maximum of 5 years. I’ve been paid IP for the last 6 months.
i think they will dismiss me on capabilities as I’m not currently able to do my job but I’m hoping my health will improve & I can return to it in time.
If they dismiss me am I correct in stating the income protection will cease too.
Thank you for any help you can offer

@Su55anr I think you need to start your own thread in a different topic, this is a thread about special occasion dresses on the Style and Beauty board, so not relevant to your post. Sorry to hear you are facing employment issues, there's a work board you should post on that will give you advice hopefully. Best of luck.

I’m so sorry I thought I had started own thread. Apologies

As someone who has also had breast cancer, a double mastectomy without reconstruction (and never wear prosthetics), I happily wear strappy and low cut tops that not only show off my flatter than flat chest, but my scars and radiotherapy tattoo too. Maybe ask her rather than assume she wants to cover up. Not all of us choose to hide/conceal our lack of chests with higher necklines and/or scarves.

Why don't you arrange a personal shopping session for her? She has a good budget and a good stylist will be just the ticket for giving her a bit more confidence.

Any of these? The Liberty one is spendy but it looks like they have a significant discount on at the moment, and it is stunning.

Phase Eight

Rixo

Liberty

Great minds! I have been eyeing the Liberty one up forever, would love an excuse like this to buy it 😍
