I’ve been invited to a winter ‘castle in Scotland’ vibe wedding. Traditional format- church then meal/ reception.
its quite formal with hats for ladies.
I’ve no idea what to wear.
Age early 60s .Dark hair 5’2 size 10/12 with menopausal middle age spread round the tum
Im a very casual person. Jeans and a jumper usually.
Budget up to £250
Any help or inspiration welcome. 😳

Will there be a ceilidh - in which case it would be nice to wear a dress or skirt you can dance in? Otherwise a grand velvet trouser suit would be my choice.

Would this be something you might consider? I’ve been through all the Outnet dresses up to £250, and didn’t see anything acceptable:

DvF dress

Although, to be honest, if you’re not likely to wear it again you might do better to rent. Good list of contemporary rental places here:

If you want to go budget for formal wear Roman is good. M and S had great velvet options last year. I wore teal velvet blazer with co-ord trs and top to a Spring wedding that was very cold. The plan has been to wear a dress under the blazer, but it was really cold.

One that suits you? (A hat.)

Choose your dress / suit, then take it with you to a good milliner who will guide you to the most flattering hat for your head, proportions and outfit.

Says who? Is this an official dress code? I've been to numerous Scottish weddings lately and only really the MOTB/G wore a hat. If they've specified hats, what exact wording has been given for dress code?
