Work shoes

I'm starting a new job shortly and it looks like it will be a smarter workplace than my last two jobs (not difficult, tbh). I have been mostly wearing either boots or converse to work for the last five years and suspect I'll need to get some new work shoes. I really, really hate loafers, which is what lots of the fashionable people at work seem to wear, so what can I wear instead? Are brogues still a thing or will I just look incredibly out of date?

I wear brogues, rather that than loafers I wore in my final year of primary school back in the day. I also wear wallabies when no rain forecast!

Loafers also bring back school memories, I think that's why I hate them so much. But if brogues are acceptable then that's fine - I can dust off my pair. Or I have an excuse to shop, which also works!

I wear black derby shoes (look a bit like men's dress shoes) or Solovair (DM-type shoes/boots but much better quality).
