Have you ever chucked away? Half used perfume because it reminds you of something unpleasant?

Realise that one of my relatively expensive perfumes actually reminds me of a friend's addiction and that whole era of chaos .
I know I can do what I want, but it just seems so wasteful. I wanted to kind of rebrand it mentally in my head.!
so did you bin, give away carry on using?

I dont do any perfume...As a kid my mum used to drown herself in various perfumes when we went to visit someone and I always got hideously carsick.
Now any perfume or aftershave makes me feel queasy.

Give it to a friend or relative. Why on earth throw it away?

I had a Chanel which smelt so potent and felt more like an "old lady" scent that didn't suit me! 🙈 I ended up giving it to my nail tech at the time because she liked that one! I do think perfumes react differently to each person.

Sometimes I can pass someone and get a whiff of their cologne which takes me back or reminds me of an ex! Can be quite annoying actually as I wasn't prepared for that!

Dh and I both had to get rid of the aftershave and perfume we had when I was pregnant with ds, the smell turned my stomach. I can’t remember what dh did with his, but I gave mine to a colleague that wore the same one. If I smell either of them on someone now, 19 years later, I still gag

sort of. I used to love “Obsession” by Calvin Klein. But I was wearing it the night I was raped, and haven’t been able to wear it since. That was 28 years ago now. I actually found the bottle a few months ago - I had just buried it deep somewhere it seems. I did try a squirt but that might just came flooding back, so I don’t think I’ll ever be able to wear it again.

I give clothes and stuff to women’s refuges and they like getting toiletries even if they have been used.

Sorry this happened to you. Smells are found to be strong triggers for memories / traumas so it is totally understandable that this happened. Hope you are ok.

Gave away a whole load of clinique aromatics-perfume, shower gel and body lotion because dh was shagging a woman who wore it(I only wore in nights out, she bathed in the stuff). I was pregnant at the time so doubly offensive. She gave him a bottle of L"egoiste for Christmas. I poured the fucker down the outside drain.
