Second date tomorrow…is this too business like?!

I’ve got a second date tomorrow evening with a really lovely guy. We’re meeting in the city closest to us for dinner, haven’t decided where to go so we’re just going to walk and see what we find!
I ordered this skort and blazer and it arrived in time and looks good (I think!). I was thinking I could wear it with a black bodysuit that has a low cut back and short sleeves, some black sheer tights and still haven’t decided between my dressy heels or knee high heeled boots yet. I’ve got a lovely emerald green clutch bag that I think would go really well with the burgundy - it’s says it’s purple but it’s not! Blazer and Skort

Love it! Not business like at all, great look for a date!

Livingontheedgeofthebathtub · 10/10/2025 20:29

Gorgeous! I love it. If you can walk in heels well over distance chose them!

SliceofTosst · 10/10/2025 20:30

Too short to be business like. It's lovely! You'll look great.

Icanttakethisanymore · 10/10/2025 20:57

I like the outfit but your description of wondering round and see what you find makes me nervous on your behalf. I find it hard to focus on finding / deciding on where / what to eat whilst also talking to someone I don’t know well. I guess if you know the city well it would be ok but if not I would scope out some options in advance, especially as it’s Saturday and places might be busy.

maybe I’m just overly anxious about getting my dinner 😂

ChickpeaCauliflowerSalad · 10/10/2025 21:01

Personally I wouldn't choose a black top, I'd go with something lighter.

which are least uncomfortable to walk in? I'd go with them, both will look good.

bag sounds like a good choice!

have fun!!

nilniosk · 10/10/2025 21:03

Really nice. I’d go with the boots. Have fun :)

Summerhillsquare · 10/10/2025 21:10

Skort? Shorts under a skirt? Definitely not.

Yesshadow · 10/10/2025 22:12

I guess it depends want look you want. It’s very very ‘non sexy’ but that might be what you’re going for

owlpassport · 10/10/2025 23:26

I like it and would wear it, but it's quite dressy/formal for the night you describe. Sitting down in a bar or restaurant, fine, but wandering about... Not sure. Could you wear the blazer with jeans, or the co-ord with flats to dress it down a bit?

I also disagree that it's very non-sexy. Depends how it's styled.

Lovelamps · 11/10/2025 01:00

Yes! You'll look lovely. Enjoy your date . Wear what you feel comfortable and attractive in. Remember he's the lucky one . X

I think it works well. I can see no reference to a skirt being part of the outfit though, so puzzled by this comment.

A white top as in the picture, might work slightly better, but you then have a “spaghetti blob” risk. The only thing l wonder about is the heels. What if you go for a long walk afterwards?

Enjoy your day.

Ha! I read the OP and thought, good luck finding a decent restaurant with space for walk ins on a Saturday night. I would not be on board with that plan at all!

I know this is the S&B thread and OP did not ask about this, but I am pleased I am not the only one to have picked up on this more than the actual question about the outfit.

Summerhillsquare · 11/10/2025 08:51

Well @StarlightLadyop says she has ordered a skort but perhaps it was a typo! But then who knows what the youth are reviving fashion wise Grin

Perfidia · 11/10/2025 09:39

Outfit sounds fine, but I wouldn’t be wandering around town at night with a stranger. You don’t know him. Arrange a dining venue and meet him inside it.

The fact he isn’t bothering to arrange this would worry me. Don’t make yourself vulnerable.

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 11/10/2025 10:00

A skort is a thing - they're great!

Skirt at the front, shorts at the back - just one item of clothing.

Unview · 11/10/2025 22:18

Tbh I'm struggling to see sheer black tights, black top and heels with it. It would completely change the vibe of the suit. I would avoid black with it anyway.

I would definitely stick with a pared-down, more casual but still smart aesthetic and go with a plain, close-cut white tee and flat shoe, possibly a chunky brogue.

PropertyD · 11/10/2025 22:34

As others say. Book something in advance or you will end up in somewhere like zizzi’s!

Florencesndzebedee · 12/10/2025 00:09

I don’t think black sheets will work. White top would also look better with burgundy.

QueenMummyTheFirst · 12/10/2025 00:16

Skorts are definitely a thing right now!

I love the outfit, and don't know what a pp means by "non-sexy". I was thinking the opposite actually, especially with heels, that it's quite dressed up and very sexy! For a wander and see kind of date, I think I would dress this down with nude tights and plain trainers, simple jewelry and a plain body top. I think black or white could work fine as a top, but make sure it's fitted to accentuate the oversized blazer.

Hope the date goes well, have fun!

Nude tights? Does anyone wear them nowadays?

I thought skorts were well known. There’s a lot about.

I do when it's cold and I want bare legs!

Yep!

Add a white shirt and a striped tie and a cap and you'll look like wee Jimmy Krankie.
