Help! My face is collapsing…

lighthearted, but whilst have always taken a keen interest in my appearance I’ve been lucky enough to never really need make up (not a stunner by any means, but have reasonably good genes meaning a bit of vaseline for lip gloss and eyeliner rendered me passable). However, recent photos of me at parties have been horrifying!

i’m late forties, combination skin (but now leaning towards dry) and a runner (which I have read is terrible for making you jowl-y). Also still love a good dance and drink into the wee small hours, which doesn’t help either my skin, or my paranoia that I am starting to stand out as an old hag! Have watched a load of tik toks and you tube vids on contouring for the more mature woman and have had a bash with some sticks and powders, but it seems to makes all my lines worse.

Final point I suppose is that I am pretty time poor so don’t have hours every morning to put on a full face of slap…I really need a slick 10-15 minutes routine tops if possible!

Not averse to a spot of chemical enhancement, but would prefer not to if possibly. What can I do to help my look as young as I still feel? All advice and product recommendations welcomed please 🙏

The term I used was jogger.Smile
I'm not interested in fillers or botox. I'm not sure about the long term effects, and some seriously rich people look awful with them
. I've not dyed my hair for a while, but a bad dye job is more ageing than greys IMO.

I read that Rooibos tea helps maintain facial fat. Don't know if that is true but I drink a cup at least once a day and still have a plump face at 48.

I drink about 6 cups of rooibos a day and look like a melted candle

Yes, I understand what it is. But I know a lot of runners and only one that I can think of has that look and she does ultramarathons, including lots of training in hot/sunny countries. Your average runner, as @YYYDlilah says, who logs 20k a week and uses SPF is unlikely to develop this.

I also think it's worth pointing out that being lean to the point you have very little fat in your face and worrying about your face bouncing up and down like unrestrained breasts, which was the earlier comparison on this thread, are two very different things.

My friend has it, and she wears SPF and only runs on weekends. Re the sag and bouncing, it's not as ludicrous a suggestion as you seem to think...

I just googled that doctor's name and runner's face and the terms elite athlete and excessive training were right at the beginning of that article.

I probably know dozens of women who run for exercise and I can think of one I'd describe that way. I guess your experience is different, but I'm stepping out of this conversation now. It's stupid, unproductive and not helping the OP in any way.

Double cleanse for starter - l especially like Body Shop camomile butter cleanser. 4 times a week l use a retinol serum at night with moisturiser (Nivea) - other nights l use sudercream all over face with Nivea - l have just started taping my face at night to 😆 - silicone tape (get a good brand) - daytime a vitamin C serum and then moisturiser - l use an under eye serum for puffiness night time and morning - L’Oreal do a good one - daytime is a light tinted foundation mixed with either bb or cc cream - no powder - bit of blush, sort eyebrows and mascara- slash of red lippy.
l’m 68 - can’t afford a face lift and will not use Botox/fillers - my skin looks good and very few wrinkles (so far) - also l use a face massager at nighttime - which l wouldn’t be without.

Look your best on Teams / Zoom calls:

Always have your light source (window, table lamp, ring light, whatever) behind your device, shining on you. Never to the side, or overhead lighting.

It will make you look like you're on TV and minimise lines, wrinkles, marks ...

Position your device higher than when you're typing (on a stand or some box files), so the lens is parallel to your eyes as you're sitting up straight.

It will tighten everything up and you'll look alert and avoid double chin, droopy eyes and jowls.

And look into the lens when you're talking as often as you'd look at an audience / incolleague real life to keep that connection and your focus on them, not you. Stick a post it over your own image on the screen to help stop your eyes drifting to it!

And yes, that soft focus / touch up my appearance button does what it says on the tin.

I learned all this during lockdown and it really works.

Regarding taping
Doesn't peeling it off just stretch the skin more?
Also collagen powder, everything I've read is that it's not absorbed?

not at all. It’s not that strong that it pulls your skin as you pull it off, it just easily peels off.
I’ve also read multiple reports that collagen doesn’t directly benefit skin, it just gets broken down and the amino acids benefit wherever most needs the proteins, that isn’t going to be wrinkles on your face.

I had a three months free trial of collagen through a colleague. Did not rate it at all. Took delivery of a huge Boots haul today so I am throwing many of the products mentioned at it!

I just need a fat face. Not a fat body, just the face. Anyone I know that has such a face looks half their age and is relatively wrinkly and line free. Mine is long and skinny following an illness, and honestly I just cannot do anything about it now. The fat will not go back to my cheeks. So I've accepted it now.

No. I have fat cheeks and when you get older that droops and becomes sagging.
