Cleverer stylists than me… Help me style my burgundy loafers please?

I bought them 2 years ago and have never worn! I work in HE teaching arts so wear casual clothes only. My go-to is trainers and barrel jeans or wide-leg with a sweater.

How can I wear these loafers? They are fairly chunky. Please include colours as the burgundy thing is putting me off and confusing me! What colour sweater would go? Could I wear my black jeans? And what about socks? It’s a minefield!!

Also I don’t suit all dark colours head to toe and need a bit of light / bright or white. But above all I want to be comfortable and relaxed!

I have a pair of burgundy loafers that I wear with black wide legged trousers and black midi/ just below the knee skirts - straight and pleated and any colour top. Wore them last week with black culottes and a black and white striped t shirt
Burgundy to me is like black it goes with anything

Burgundy and jeans blue.
Burgundy and dark green
Burgundy and light pink
Burgundy and cream
Burgundy and gold

I find it a useful warm neutral. I don't like pairing it with black as it's too draining for me.

Things I would wear with burgundy loafers;

Pink jumper

Black skirt

Cherry blazer

Indigo jeans

But to be perfectly honest I wouldn’t have black jeans in a casual wardrobe if I wanted to wear brighter coloured things. I would prefer an autumnal coloured wardrobe - so burgundy loafers would just meld into the other colours without much, if any, thought at all.

I’m cool toned so most of my neutrals are things like navy, black, light grey, white and charcoal. That’s why I’m having trouble putting in the burgundy shoes!
