I’m nearly 50 with good skin.
I have freckles and need something lighter that lets them show through… a hint of a tint if you like. I love a slight shimmer / sparkle too. Any brilliant suggestions?

Have a look at skin tints or BB creams rather than foundations. They sound like exactly what you’re after.

Maybelline do one that lasts well and and is a very light coverage

I love the erborian cc cream. It's really good and as a fellow freckle face I can confirm that it doesn't overpower them just evens out your skin tone etc!

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 07/10/2025 08:10

I've been using a skin tint, Lisa Eldridge right now, and am not going back to foundation.

Would like to try this. Non idea how to chose a shade online though?!

I also recommend the Lisa Eldridge. The Erborian was too dark for my pale skin and went very orange.

Kaftanqween · 07/10/2025 09:58

Third recommendation for Lisa Eldridge.

isitmytime · 07/10/2025 11:27

@StrongLikeMammado you have a foundation that matches your complexion you use just now?
if you do there’s a couple of sites that can match you findation (not a typo) and temptalia. They’ve always been spot on for me

If not there’s a shade match on the erborian site that might help.

Kaftanqween · 31/10/2025 14:48

I also have to say the Dior foundation stick is amazing. It’s pretty lightweight and melts into the skin looking like you have nothing on your skin except perfected, even skin. I’m a bit of a make up connoisseur and it’s my favourite

Another vote for erborian, I use the cc cream in the summer and the bb cream in the winter. They don’t have many shades so I don’t find it too difficult to pick the nearest shade. I actually mix two of the cc creams together to get a better shade depending on whether I’ve got fake tan on in the summer!

This is the thing, I’m so much paler in winter! X

Something like Lisa Eldridge Skin Tint or Saie or something similar. Lighter weight than a foundation but more coverage than a tinted moisturiser.

For what it’s worth I agree, as we age, lighter coverage generally looks better. I tend to use something like Charlotte Tilbury’s Flawless Filter or the Elf alternative then Bronzer and blush and get enough coverage without any actual foundation type product

redredwine40 · 31/10/2025 17:29

I use the Erborian bb cream and think it's fabulous! Not too many shades to choose from. I have two and mix them together if I've got a tan!

sheistheslayer · 31/10/2025 17:31

The Estée Lauder futurist skint tint is nice

HappyKatieA · 31/10/2025 17:40

Glossier skin tint works exactly like this for me.

DesperatelySeekingHelp · 31/10/2025 18:05

I use the Erborian. It’s brilliant and sometimes I will put a bit of Charlotte tilbury flawless filter on top.

MorrisZapp · 31/10/2025 18:19

Tinted moisturiser was the lie of the nineties. BB and CC were the lies of the 2010s, and now skin tint is the current lie.

It's all foundation. I tested that Lisa Eldridge stuff on my hand and wanted to scrub it off immediately.

I'd love a facial version of Perfect Legs which is actually clear and tinted, but to my knowledge this doesn't exist.

The only one I can just about tolerate for special occasions is Armani Neo Nude foundation, and I'm going to try their new skin tint when I get my Christmas bonus.

Even with four layers of skincare underneath, all the rest grip my dry skin in a chokehold and point large arrows at every tiny line and wrinkle.

Letthemeatgateau · 31/10/2025 18:25

BFF De-stress by Trinny London. I think it's exactly what you're after. Alternatively Typology T10 tinted serum is also fantastic, and lasts forever.

I find Erborian BB is too thick, the CC is nice but it does end up a bit orange on me after a few hours.

AsCoolAsKimDeal · 31/10/2025 22:48

I’m very pale and also found Erborian too yellow. I use Chantecaille tinted moisturiser in winter, it’s £££ but watch out for offers. In summer I just add tan drops to my regular moisturiser a couple of times a week.

Mercurial123 · 31/10/2025 22:57

Lumene CC cream is my favourite. I prefer it to Lisa Eldridge.

CharlieKirkRIP · 31/10/2025 22:58

I mix my own! Any foundation, add a couple of drops of liquid highlighter and a serum and it gives a lovely natural coverage and glow.
