OMG back into an office!

OMG I’m back needing to go into an office 2 days a week. And worse, it smarter than the last time I was there!

I haven’t been regularly in an office since 2019. And for the period at LEAST 2010-2019 office desk was super casual (blue skinny jeans as a rule!) My corporate wear is BEYOND out of date. They aren’t full on The Fold (TVs The Split etc) but definitely a step above skinny jeans of old.

worse….I now hate heels 😫 But nothing looks good on flats does it

Any hints, tips or links would be vv gratefully received.

52, size 8, decent legs, no waist, a bit of a rectangle

I feel your pain and horror. I loved the power dressing era and am completely lost in the post pandemic office. Everything was clear back them and now any website, even the overhyped Me+Em work dresses I would only wear to a county show.

My work uniform have become dark leg full length jeans in various cuts, a blazer and cami or a t shirt. I mix it up with a few dresses. Always heels, feel frumpy in flat shoes at work.

Don’t worry - no-one wears heels to the office nowadays. It’s wide leg trousers, slim fitting tops with trainers or chunky flats all the way.

Do you mean like a lace edged cami? Tell me more as I can’t even master this for a night out without looking like (glamorous) underwear. Does it not make the armpits of your blazers a bit stinky?

Not shading as this look sounds amazing, just interested in how you master the details!

OP, I wear various Zara trousers which I find inexpensive, washable and reasonably hard wearing. I then wear a lot of shirts - leaning on Zara again and some Sezane. Plain adidas or loafers.

Yes, this is it!

I WFH full time but was in the office last week for four days - a rare occurrance. Every day I wore a pair of wide leg M&S jersey trousers (I have them in black and brown), a skinny rib stripey top (I have quite a few of these from H&M and Dunnes), Zara black blazer, and white or brown trainers, with gold jewellery.

I’m back in the office FT. Most days I wear wide leg trousers, trainers or loafers and some kind of more casual top like a smarter t shirt (love and roses from next mostly) or blouse
i alternate checked wide leg and grey ones and plain and patterned tops

just ordered some ankle grazer ones as wide leg are not working in the rain! I also wear skirts with tights and ankle boots

Nonsense.

What trainers are you wearing with your wide leg trousers, to the office?

I have a frankly embarrassing number of Adidas trainers in a variety of colours. I also have white platform converse.

Mostly Kurt Geiger/carvala from the shoeaholics sale

@Thenamechangecometh Not a lace cami, plain edge - I manage all male team and lace would not be appropriate. I have white, black and snake print camis, so all neutrals. I do love heels and they are my signature / statement piece, with clothes pretty simple. I would not wear a blazer for a date night, for a single reason that I think of them as workwear.

CuriousRunner · 06/10/2025 20:41

@evilharpy4 days in the office?!! I’d be digging out my wedding dress for day #4 😱😱😱

I’m going through this too. It’s painful.
o have bought some straight leg trousers from Zara. Various wool roll necks. Cute belts and smart platform trainers. I’ll sling on some blazers and some jewellery with a tote bag and hope for the best.

Yep, I flat out refuse to wear heels now (excuse the pun). But life is too short to endure heels. I’ve some really nice expensive ones that I’ve been trying to flog on Vinted for ages, and they’re not selling because no one wants heels anymore.
