Boots, Boots everywhere but none that fit!

Currently trying to find some knee high brown boots, which should be easy and suddenly isn't. My old pair have holes in teh bottom and are actually about 10 years old.

I wear dresses a lot in the winter and without a pair I will struggle.

I want flat or chunky sole for walking in towns/ days out (not country side) going for leather as want to be able to step in puddles wear in the pouring rain.

I am a bit of an awkward size a 7.5 but can sometimes fit a 7/8 and don't want a completely flat sole as that is often uncomfortable.

So I have tried 4 pairs so far and none fit properly, a few are too big around the ankle and then one was to tight around the calf (which I've never had normally boots are to big for my calf).

These Geox puckered around the ankle and the folds rubbed even after a few minutes of wear.

These ECCO did the same and are normally my favourite brand for comfortable shoes my last boots were from them.

These Jones had very comfortable sole but was really tight I could barely do them up, they did fit around the ankle though!

These Rieker were a bit to small for my foot and again loads of material at the ankle.

So does anyone have any ideas or do I rethink and go for an ankle boot? I do like knee high for warmth when it gets really cold.

Fairfax and Favor boots fit like a glove but they aren’t cheap!

poppysqueak · 01/10/2025 17:15

DuoBoots are usually very good. Lots of knee high designs some flattish some with heel. Crucially they do lots of different calf widths.
I don’t know what your budget is but prices are around £250-£295 but if you sign up with your email there is 10% off first order offer.

The Gabor match boots are great. They have a zip at the back to have slim fit or wider. Nice chunky sole. The black suede are lovely, also do a grey which is different.

gorgeezra · 01/10/2025 18:45

Can relate to this as I’m currently on the hunt for a pair of black leather knee highs - Dune are the best I’ve found so far, as they offer different calf widths!

YippieKayakOtherBuckets · 01/10/2025 18:47

If you are in the West Midlands there is a discount shoe outlet which periodically has the chunkier version of the Fairfax and Favor boots in for £100.

MiddleAgedDread · 01/10/2025 18:49

This is the story of my life with knee high boots, I have narrow feet and ankles and they just grip around my calves and then flap around my ankles! I wear ankle boots with dresses instead.

PoliteSquid · 01/10/2025 19:01

Is getting your current ones repaired an option? I have done that before with favourite boots. One pair was so utterly fucked that the very nice man in Timpsons did the repair for free 😂

Monkeyshu in Shirley. They post on their Facebook page when they get them in.

DramaLlamacchiato · 01/10/2025 19:04

Maybe a bit cheaper/more downmarket than what you are looking for, but I used to get my knee high boots from Evans.

Devilsmommy · 01/10/2025 19:08

Have you tried Heavenly Feet. I get them from Next, though I have the 3/4 not knee length

TeaHagTeaBag · 01/10/2025 19:08

I'm no help as I can't find what I want either, but I was looking at the first geox ones online. Is the back detail functional or decorative? Ie, can the lacing expand to allow my calves not be strangled?

Sadly not @PoliteSquid see the photo the store is integrated.

@MiddleAgedDread what ankle boots do you wear winder if it's time for a change.

Thank you everyone else for the suggestions I've never had a problem with getting boots done up so that was a new experience think they are just making things more cheaply now, so they either make it tight and one width or loose not with a curve in our that's what I'm noticing.

@TeaHagTeaBag I can't remember how much they undid sorry not much help!

I've had heavenly feet boots before sadly @Devilsmommy their 7 is too small and the 8 too funnily enough it's like I'm half way between the two sizes 🤣 honestly don't know why they don't do more half sizes. I sold them as got feed up of having to double sock.

Off to look how close I am to Monkeyshu in Shirley and on the Evans website.

I'll report back if I find the unicorn 🦄 of boots.

Thanks MiddleAgedDread might have to consider ankle boots.

These are nice and simple so shouldn't date but suede not sure how long lasting and if the sole will be cushioned enough.

These are also good have a nice chunky sole so should give some cushioning but again suede not sure I'm going to be good at taking care of it!

Moshulu
I’m not sure the link has worked - it’s for a search of long brown leather boots. Will add screenshots in case it doesn’t link properly. I have the long Stargazer in brown, the mid calf nightjar in a different colour. I have also tried on the ulrika in a different colour (that one is good for differing calf sizes due to the lace up at the back. And I have a few other pairs from there too. I buy either a 6 or 6.5, I like to go up half a foot size as I wear more than one pair if socks in the winter. I’ve found their quality to be good so far and are very comfortable on the foot. They have sales quite often so also have a look in their sales to see what they have. I have also used their outlet site to buy from as well. Just Google moshulu outlet. I love a bargain so some of the pairs - including summer wedge sandals and I think one or two pairs of boots - I have got in their sales, sometimes as much as half off, which is great when it comes to their long boots! They have a 10% off code that pops up while you’re browsing, which is quite handy.

eta: forgot to attach pics, they are below but waiting for approval

They make some sloppy around the ankles to cope with socks. Which I admit I do wear. I'm nesh.

I have these in the black suede. I love them.

FrostyMorn · 03/10/2025 14:07

Just to say I feel your pain as someone who also takes a 7.5. A 7 is usually too small and an 8 too big - but so few brands do a 7.5! 6.5 is often the biggest half size they do, then skipping to 7 and 8. Any shoe brands reading: please take note!

I haven't looked at what boot styles they currently have but Clarks do a 7.5? I think Josef Seibel do too - i have a pair of their ankle boots and they are very comfortable.

Sickoffamilydrama · 04/10/2025 20:21

Thanks everyone for the ideas I'll go look at the moshulu outlet.
Yay a follow 7.5 @FrostyMorn.

Currently I have boot fatigue I have a million tabs open on my phone and don't know what to buy next or if I need to go to an actual shop which then won't have the size in stock!

So for everyone else searching theres some bargain Spanish style a bit like Fairfax and favor down to £50 Here

Durbarry have a nice simple but water proof boot bit it is ££££

Carvela has some nice boots had someone recommended these to me.

Asda has some really nice looking boots including a fringed chocolate brown pair that I'd love if I could actually fit them.

I'm very tempted by these ankle boots because of the embroidery even though they don't meet my requirements.

I feel like I need to list them all and then cross the ones of that don't meet the requirements I'm too drawn to the pretty or flashy ones like a magpie when actually I already wear colourful clothes and what I need is dark brown water proof or resistant boots I can wear both watching DD playing Rugby or with a dress casually.
