Does this exist and how to find it??

I have a very old bathrobe. It’s lined in a thin telling material and then has a soft smooth cotton exterior. It has pockets.

After I come out and give myself a rough dry with a towel It is then the perfect post shower robe as the thin towelling inside dries you off but doesn’t get all heavy like a full Terry towelling robe.

Does anyone know what I am describing and knows what I should search for online??

I don’t want a waffle robe and I don’t want a pure terry robe. I have these already. My double one is PERFECTION!

Hmm I can't find one! Do you know where yours was from?

BankfieldForever · 30/09/2025 16:29

When you say very old, OP, how old are we talking? 2010 or 1930’s?

You don’t mention a label or brand - Could it be home/handmade?

A photo would be fabulous. I’m sure we could find you something, although all the lined bathrobes/dressing gowns I’ve just seen on a quick search for what’s readily available are quilted or lined with synthetic fleece…

Nice find, @Menopants - I’m on the Toast thread but didn’t come up with that one.

Toast are my go to for overpriced lovely dressing gowns. A tad disappointing this season

Ooh the toast one is a contender!

Edited

My current one is so grim looking I can’t take a pic!

The toast one is not quite exactly as the lining is this thing Terry stretchy stuff in my one. It’s about 30 years old!!!

The toast silk velvet one is divine. A good colour for a change. I can't bring myself to pay £350 on a dressing gown that needs dry cleaning though.

John Lewis had some at the weekend, by gifts not lingerie, that were silk outside and pretty and light towelling inside. Every time I looked at the label the sales lady pounced, so I've no idea how much they were. They were gorgeous though.

I have one like that from M&S. A good decade old though.

I wouldn’t get too hung up on the terry lining being thin, OP, if its 30 years old it would surely have been thick when new.

What I’m saying is if you see one you like I wouldn’t discount it because the terry lining is thick and fluffy, they all will be compared to your old one.

I really like the one from Their Nibs.
