Good winter boots to go with dresses

Just this,
I have lots of dresses to wear with tights but struggle with shoes/boots
The ones I have a black suede, very flat with a round toe and just feel they look a bit meh, like frumpy and uncool. Id say my legs are on the chunkier side.
Ive seen a few people with doc marten boots that look cool and trendy but I cant afford them at the moment and heard they can be very painful!
Any suggestions appreciated thanks

I like fly London boots the mid calf mes 2 ones I find they hit at the right place and seem to elongate the leg. I buy mines from Amazon resell you can often get a pair for forty quid or so that someone has tried on and returned. Search by shoe size.

I just wear black or brown Chelsea boots, they look fine. I also have some rive island snakeskin sock boots but they aren't that comfortable. I often get boots off Ebay you can get some really bargains on there.
