Stylish glasses

I’m 48 and really need to start wearing my glasses more. But I have no idea what’s fashionable or stylish and want to treat myself to a good pair instead of bargain bin readers!
Any recommendation’s on style of frames? I have an oval face so suit most things but have no idea what’ might look good frames wise.

If you go to a reputable private optician they will have someone who specialises in advising customers on the best style of frame to suit their face. Ours is in Radlett, Hertfordshire and they are excellent.

Go to any popular optician and what they stock will be in trend with the usual choice of shapes. Try some on, get the assistant to advise you

Try Cubitt, Jimmy Fairly or Ace and Tate

Thanks I’ll get myself down to the opticians and have a good try on of some of the recommended brands.

I’ve got Lindbergs. V expensive but you have them reglazed and they last years.

Specsavers do designer brands - latest is Elton John! Their own ones are also pretty good - I get compliments on a pair of red ones of their own brand. I do 2 for 1 and get e.g. a pair of red and a pair of green/ blue to go with different clothes. Basic choice is metal or plastic and then shape (round, square, teacup etc). With an oval face you can probably wear most and look great.
Shop staff are pretty helpful when choosing.

I’ve currently got Oliver Peoples ones. Second lot of frames I’ve had from there and they are very stylish (with no branding, if you prefer that)

It took me til my 30's to realise the square glasses i had been wearing since my teens (not the exact same pair, just always chose square) did not suit me. I have a small round face so the length of most square glasses just doesn't look right but all my bespectacled friends had them so i followed to crowd. Now i have much shorter width of lens in a shape that is somewhere between a square and an oval. I have a thing for purple glasses, the last several pair of glasses i have had have been purple.
