Evening Gowns- Where do I go?

Hello All!

I have an evening ‘do’ to go to- all very glam and a bit out of my wheelhouse. Need an evening gown that sparkles/isn’t plain. I’d probably need a size 16/18. I’ve had a brief look online and I’ve seen needle &thread dresses that would suit but I wondered if anyone had any suggestions of any others or shops that I could go to try some stuff on and now have to spend £1000’s on ordering and returning? I can quite easily get to London/Midlands- any and all suggestions welcome please!

Forgot to add- I need something maxi length and long sleeves.

Monsoon does loads of occasion wear - lots of different cuts and colours, so it would be worth finding a big Monsoon somewhere.

John Lewis Oxford Street usually has a decent selection in store.

Dare I say Temu. They do some nice dresses and easy to return if oh don’t like /doesn’t fit
