Typology BAC is out. This is one I quite fancy since seeing it last year. I'm not going to get it this year because frankly I have way too much stuff right now. I'd like to try their products though.

I’ve just opened my JL BAC, I’m very impressed with it. And the box is so sturdy and gorgeous, I think my favourite box of all of them. Obviously Harrods has the edge for the luxe feel but in terms of design and structure the JL is the best

I’m a bit disappointed by how teeny the fragrances are but they smell lovely. I quite surprised myself by really liking the Versace one

OvaHere · 04/10/2025 15:50

@Thelifeofawife Versace Crystal Noir is a lovely fragrance. I have a 30ml bottle.

Thelifeofawife · 04/10/2025 16:38

@OvaHere I was pleasantly surprised by it. I wish it had been a bigger bottle, it’s a cute little thing though

Yeah F&M seems to be notably absent too, although I did see one. They all seem to unbox the same ones which is a bit odd. You would’ve thought that they’d try to choose ones that other influencers aren’t unboxing if they want people to watch.

I saw the F&M one in store today. I was buying the sharing tea and biscuits one for friends. It was on a beautiful box. Quite a few of the products appealed to me as I liked the candles, perfume and most of the brands.

CorneliaStreet · 04/10/2025 20:20

Planning with Crystal is unboxing the JL calendar on YouTube at the moment.

CorneliaStreet · 04/10/2025 20:22

I’ve just clicked on it though and she says she hasn’t got the calendar with her, she’s just sharing her opinions on it.

Giftwithpurchase · 04/10/2025 20:22

@RainbowZebraWarrior thanks for the link to the candle .. it may have slipped into my basket ...
Anyone feel that M&S should make it a bit more obvious on the advent page that it isn't actually £330?! It doesn't say anything about the reduced price with a spend - I am on the app tho so sure it's clearer on the website!

Crossposted. I went in to watch but it's not an actual unboxing. It's a virtual walkthrough.

CorneliaStreet · 04/10/2025 20:23

I’m not interested in her thoughts (lovely though she seems), I want to see the products!

Like the Miss Boux channel she's not bought many this year. I assume it's getting too expensive vs whatever revenue the video brings in.

HollyGolightly4 · 04/10/2025 21:33

I've done it. I've bought Boots premium!

It looks really good. I had that two years ago and loved it. I got the skincare one as I don't want any makeup.

Re: The ‘unboxings that aren’t’ on YouTube this year.

I have been very disappointed by the number of calendar run-throughs where the presenter doesn’t have the calendar in front of them (or at least an example of the product to show us). Some of these YouTubers haven’t even bothered to provide pictures and tell us the RRP of each product, (which is particularly poor).

I think it’s for two reasons - partly, as people have said, these calendars are getting very pricy and there’s more competition amongst influencers for our views. They are probably not getting the revenue from us that they used to.

I also think that brands are sending out fewer calendars to these guys than in previous years. I have watched a couple of unboxings recently where the presenter has mentioned being sent calendars in the past, but this year they haven’t had one.

JoRaRaRa · 04/10/2025 22:02

My thoughts are that it's perhaps getting more difficult for influencers; people only want to watch youtubers who are honest and say when something is disappointing etc, but then companies only want to send out advent calendars to influencers who get excited over every single product, even a scrunchie 🤣 meaning that for an influencer to be fully honest, they kinda need to buy it themselves.

IlovePond · 05/10/2025 00:49

That’s true @JoRaRaRa

Eltoria is a case in point!

TempleBra · 05/10/2025 01:01

@IlovePond i do think it’s shocking how many SNK in particular give out to influencers, even ones that have relatively low numbers - and aren’t beauty influencers. It does put me off even considering SNK sometimes - love to know the full amount they give away.

Planning with Crystal actually hinted at this. If you criticise, which she has done quite frequently particularly when the brand labels travel sizes as full sizes, then they don’t ask you to review their products.

She really irritates me. That voice!

Caggie09 · 05/10/2025 01:21

@IlovePond She sprung to mind when i read that too!

@TempleBra I agree, my feed before SNK had hit was mostly influencers pushing it. Which ofcourse i want to see what im buying first but leave it to the beauty influencers.

Yeah, if I had my own company I wouldn't send to Eltoria, I've been watching her vids when I've been having fomo and need talking out of buying a calendar 🤣🤣

@AppleDumplingWithCustard yeah it doesn't surprise me that some have been finding that. I quite like miss boux best, but I think she's had to buy quite a few of hers this year. I like how she's initially excited and then gets disappointed 🤣 ReallyRee is good too, I like how quick she gets through products 😁 Someone asked on here actually either yesterday or a few days ago if there's been an unboxing of harvey nicks, I knew I'd seen one but couldn't remember where, and it's ReallyRee on her insta account.

I was reading something about channel numbers and PR the other day. Allegedly a small to mid influencer (so maybe 30 -50k subs) but who has a clear aesthetic and dedicated, engaged followers who watch all the videos and engage with the creator means the translation from PR to sales is very good for brands that fit the demographic. It can be better than a massive channel who has hundreds of thousands/millions of subscribers but a less defined audience and less audience interaction.

Hi

im looking to get an advent calendar for my wife. She has previously had Charlotte tilbury, Clinique, body shop and next. She wears Charlotte tilbury makeup products but she likes anything beauty.

i had seen the look fantastic one which seemed to have a few god sized full products. Would you appreciate this one and think it’s a good enough all rounder?

To be honest the Lookfantastic one hasn't been very popular on here this year. Last years was better but that's just my opnion.

Do you have a budget? I think the 2 Boots ones are better than LF. The first is just skincare but the premium one has a mix of skincare and make up.

Next have 2 nice ones unless you don't want to get Next again

M&S have one soon (released on the 9th). That one is £60 but you have to spend £35 to buy it. Product details in this link.
