How do I use heat protectant on my hair when using a straightening brush?

I recently made a post about going back to straightening my hair, and it's great so far, but whether I leave it wavy or straighten, it looks kind of dull and dry. This is my hair type so it is otherwise healthy.
I use a GHD Glide, which is a heated ceramic brush - it doesn't spin like a dryer, it is just a hot brush. It gets my hair nice and sleek but unlike irons it does leave it more bouncy and natural (which is good!).

Is there a way to find a product that has heat defence as well as combating the dry look?

And if so, how do I use it?

I don't blow dry, so when would I add the heat protection? Do I add it and let it dry before using my Glide?

Or should I blow dry first, too?
My hair is fine but poofy, not thin. It is mid length and frizzy but quite strong.

I use a little serum all over then half dry my hair and spray on Schwarzkopf heat protect spray before using a heated brush.
