In my 40s, 5ft tall on a good day, and in the last 12 months I have gone up nearly 2 dress sizes. Perimenopausal weight gain, spare tyre around my middle. I was always apple shape, but now I'm full on Silhouette of Mr Happy.

I'm going to need to buy an entire winter wardrobe in a size 16.

Good people of mumsnet - what can I buy that will hold my stomach in and suit my short and stocky legs? I need skirts, jeans, and dresses (for work), that can accommodate further growth if I balloon more.

Everything I try on looks wrong and its really getting me down

Skims body suit!!!

And then dresses that don't have the waistline right on your waist.

V necks not round necks

Maybe tank tops

It's depressing....

Do you find you can breath in a skims body suit? WHen've tried hold you in underwear, I just end up feeling restricted or like I have a swimming costume on under my clothes

Elasticated trousers? Uniqlo has quite nice ones.

Much as it pains me to approve of much that Kim K is trying to sell us, Skims pants and body suit are really really comfortable once you get them on!! The most comfortable I've ever worn. They look tiny when they come out of the bag so they do require a tiny bit of a wrestle on.

Oh and also I wore them in 30c and they are breathable and not sweaty. Maybe not so vital currently...

Get yourself down to John Lewis for a free personal shopper appointment, with exactly that specification.
