Help - night out and I have lost my style

A uni friend who lives abroad is coming back next weekend and has invited a group of us to meet up in our local city for dinner and drinks. It’s all very last minute and I have completely lost my way with style. We are a group of mid 40’s to early 50’s women, a few are quite fashionable.

I am finally losing some weight and down from a size 20 to a 16. I feel good in myself but still frumpy and out of place in city bars.

I am 5’4, size 16 apple shaped but with a waist of that makes sense. Im all stomach and boobs. Soft Summer colours suit me best, budget as low as possible as I am hoping to continue to lose weight.

Have a look at Clare Watkins stylist on Insta

Ironically she is the first person I recommend to anyone curvy too. 🙈

What kind of style are you into, would you prefer trousers or a dress? How dressed up?.

I think this is half my problem, I’m not sure how dressed up people get to go to a few bars/pubs anymore.
I mainly wear wide leg jumpsuits and maxi dresses like dancing leopard shirt dresses for going out, jeans and a blazer sometimes but then I worry what top and shoes etc. I feel out of touch.

Many posters will tell you that people are dressing down nowadays, which is true, but I think enough women enjoy clothes and enjoy nights out to wear something special.
A jumpsuit is a good starting point, though the fit can be tricky. You could go for trousers and a top in the same colour/pattern?.

I will go have a look. I am off on Friday and that’s a bit neat so perhaps best do a few online orders.

I love that red velvet Bella Freud suit!
Fabulous.

The red is fabulous but definitely not my colour or something I would have the confidence to wear.
The black and gold dress could be worth a try, and hiring might be the best bet.
