Wedding guest dress issues

I will be attending a wedding in a few weeks.

I am having difficulty with dresses. I bought a dress that was like a blush pink and I like the dress but apparently it doesn't suit me because I have pale skin and it washes me out and I look naked in it. I still didn't get time to return it.

I bought another dress. A navy dress. I tried it on yesterday. I tried it on over my clothes that I was wearing for the day which was a cotton dress. Nothing too bulky. The dress has a zip at the back and found the area with the zip and the band tight. The dress fits me perfectly in the neck and arms and skirt part. It's a great size. I found the zip was tight. It definitely won't be comfortable for a long wedding day. Should I try it on with a slip instead of my ordinary clothes. Would that be better?

Or should I return it for something else?

I am really having a hard time trying to find something.

I am not at home to try the dress on again. I don't it's going to fit me. I think I might return it.

I am just wondering how for the next dress I could try -

Would an emerald green dress work with gold shoes and a navy bolero or would that be too much? Should I get a gold pashmina or navy shoes maybe?

Any other ideas for plus size?

I am currently in the process of fading a vivid purple hair and wanting to go blonde for the wedding. I found the vivid hair to be hard to style.

I have gold shoes.

Or just try the bloody dress on when you get home without other clothes on before you start spending more money you might not need to?

Update:

I tried the dress on and it's too tight. It won't work.

I am looking at another dress but it has a zip too. I don't know to size up or remain with my size or find a dress without a zip.

Can you order a dress with a bit of give in it?
