how to dye leather shoes?

i have a pair of beautiful red shoes. They are leather. But i really don't wear anything anymore that goes with red shoes (I mostly wear black) and would like to dye them (they are quite old, i can't find anything like it at all online or in the shops and i really really love them. They are comfortable too)

So here is my question. Has anyone successfully dyed a pair of shoes at home? or is it something i should try to have done professionally?

I painted a pair of red leather sandals with navy Angelus Leather Paint
from Amazon and it worked really well.

thanks, what colour did they turn out? (my "worry" is that they would be deep purple or something)

Could you perhaps find the same or similar pair on vinted in black? I am just not sure it’s worth trying to dye them. My experience of dyeing clothes has not been great.

no. I don't want 2nd hand shoes. And they really are difficult to find, I have been looking for ages

(so if anyone knows where i can get roundish toed 20s style heeled shoes, button or buckle, in black, pls let me know)

Take them to a local cobblers or laundry that takes shoe repairs too. They will do it for you …. Or advise on dos and don’ts for home dyeing.
