Im going to a party and am wearing black trousers and a navy top. I am not sure if I should wear black or navy shoes. I have a nice pair of navy wedge sandals but not sure If black shoes would look better

I think we need to see the outfit.
what accessories?

JDM625 · 19/09/2025 12:24

I'd normally wear back shoes with black trousers, but depends on the style of the clothes and the type party etc.

Black trousers a navy top could also be suitable for a funeral!

I'm going to be no help at all here and say i hate black and navy together ...

sorry x

I think black and navy looks sophisticated.im wearing a navy lace blouse and a oaker clue blazer. The paler blue blazer looks nice with the navy lace top

If you have short legs then you need trousers and shoes to be the same colour as a different colour foot will make your leg look shorter.

Yes, a navy lace top with black trousers is a sophisticated and chic look, as the color combination of navy and black

Same here!

it doesnt always go OP, if you share the outfit we can give better advice on shoes?

PerkyOchrePeer · 20/09/2025 08:13

I wore black shoes but most of the other people were dressed very casually. Some in jeans and trainers. Don't people dress up anymore? I think I've been watching too many videos of Royal family functions where they look ultra smart and I have been brought up by parents who said that whatever the occasion, you should look properly coordinated abd not looking like you are going to do your gardening. My parents would say jeans and trainers are not proper attire for a wine and cheese party nor are mini skirts and low cut tops which was what a couple of women were wearing

Just looked online and you can wear jeans to a cheese and wine party. Im shocked

Noone dresses up anymore but you wear what you feel comfy in. I love a bot of a spruce up!

It doesn’t sound sophisticated and chic, it sounds exceedingly dull. And very much lacking in ‘party spirit’.

Sorry OP.

Navy and black is chic. François-Henri Pinault wears this combination a lot.

I’d rather take my style influence from him rather than a bunch of Tui wearing MNetters.
