Etiquette with communal washers/dryers

I've had to use the dryer at the local petrol station.

I get there and someone's washing is in the dryer, finished and no one around.

I have to empty into the small dryer because another lady comes to use to larger washing machine.

Its an outside washing machine, in a petrol station for court....

Aibu for moving the washing? Should I have waited?

You haven't put it on the ground so it's their own fault for not coming back in good time to retrieve it. Are you staying nearby for your washing?
