So I’ve got a big family dinner in a few weeks and ExH will be there. I know I shouldn’t care what he thinks but I want to look the best I can.

I’m mid 50s, 5ft 5, size 12ish, pear shape with average size bust. Currently hate everything about my body having piled on and lost weight. need a flattering dress, Nothing edgy, just classic and pretty.

May be too vintage but I have a couple of dresses from this company and they are so flattering and very good quality. I think I paid for one on Klarna.

They are beautiful dresses Poirot!! I have such little confidence in my appearance think I would need to order several in different sizes but that’s not a problem

I am about a 14 (sometimes 16) but 14 from this company fits perfectly. They really are lovely in real life, too.

Some very nice dresses on there

harriethoyle · 17/09/2025 15:55

Check the pretty dress company out - properly structured with 3/4 sleeves, a range of necklines and tailored waists. Very flattering.

OdeToTheNorthWestWind · 17/09/2025 16:26

As well as the dress, a good confidence boost when you will be "on show", is wearing well fitted underwear, which adds structure to whatever you are wearing and enables you to stand and walk tall.

Thundertoast · 17/09/2025 16:28

What kind of colours suit you / what do you normally wear, and what kind of neckline/sleeve do you normally wear? I find changing these things up a bit can help with subtle impact.
