Gym vests

I've lost weight and all my Sweaty Betty vests now look ridiculous, so I need to replace them. However even in the sale they are £25+ and I'm wondering if there are cheaper options I might like.

They need to be ideally black but I also like burgundy and dark green, and fitted, not loose.

Is there a vest equivalent to the Amazon leggings that people always recommend (which I have bought and agree are excellent)? Or where else could I look?

I've had a few from Matalan which are cheap and holding up quite well, although not as nice as my Sweatty Betty and Lululemon ones. I've heard good things about the M&S ones too, but I haven't tried personally.

M&S seem to have lots in their sale at the moment, I also rate their secret support vests, I have black and hot pink and they wash and wear well and are really comfortable

Ooh I just bought some in the sale at BAM and I love them. Will see if still on offer...

Pretty much all of the supermarkets do decent gym ranges now, plus shops like M&S and Next. I have a lot of M&S stuff. I don't think it's necessary to pay Sweaty Betty prices unless you really want to.

Thanks for the suggestions. I might just be rubbish at searching but couldn't find anything that fit the bill in Sainsburys (which was surprising) or M&S. Lots of cropped tops, looser/slightly swingy vests, patterned or colour block type things but nothing plain black and fitted that wasn't from a more expensive brand. I'll have a look at Next, Matalan and Asda, we only have Tesco nearby unfortunately but I can order online. I don't think Morrisons delivers do they?

Those BAM ones are nice but the colours are definitely not me. Also they don't sound like wicking fabric so might be a bit soggy for a spin class?

Yes! I have one from amazon I’ve bought twice, easily my favourite gym top.

It’s this one

minipie · 17/09/2025 18:10

ah, the one I linked is £25 though 😬

I also have the icyzone vest here which is cheaper. Good quality but a bit longer than I’d like.

My daughter swears by Gymshark, but I am not sure of the price. She previously had Sweaty Betty.

All my gym stuff is from the aforementioned places. I also really recommend Decathlon, TK Maxx and Primark.

Ooh, forgot to mention Pursue Fitness. It's available online, but not expensive. I have their sports bras, and they are excellent. Lots of close-fitting vests.

Try h and m. My daughter has recently bought a burgandy, dark olive and black vest. Fitted. Wash well. Can't work out how to link but here's a pic...
