Safe choice or happy choice?

Do I choose the perfectly nice, safe, sensible, almost neutral colour, or the rich, very definite, strong colour? At this price I can't afford to buy multiple pairs, so this will be my everyday shoe, whatever my outfit. I wear lots of colour.

Safe choice or happy choice?

I've been looking at the same shoes 😂

Think of what you wear most,do the red shoes go ok? I think they're lovely.

PersephoneParlormaid · 14/09/2025 07:49

The red

Aparecium · 14/09/2025 07:53

My favourite trousers are violet 😁

Go with the grey for those colour choices

zaxxon · 14/09/2025 08:18

In that case, get the grey.

You'd risk looking a bit "cbeebies presenter" with that colour combo of red shoes and violet trousers

LoafofSellotape · 14/09/2025 08:21

Grey then I think or you're risking colour over kill.

SparrowFeet · 14/09/2025 08:21

The red - they don't seem to me to be any more outlandish that the green/ grey. Unless you plan on wearing a lot of yellow they'll go with most things and certainly look smarter as the weather gets worse as they'll show up splashes less.

SparrowFeet · 14/09/2025 08:22

Oh hang on didn't read you had purple trousers. Grey!!

triplechoc · 14/09/2025 08:31

If you tend to wear brighter trousers, then the grey (agree with pp re possible CBeebies presenter vibes!). Love the red ones though, and red/burgundy trainers in general with darker trousers/jeans.

As an aside, I have these in black leather and they are SO comfortable, and having worn them to death for 18 months they’re showing no signs of wear other than the white sole needed a clean up now and again - despite having winced at the price when I bought them (in desperation due to foot pain), cost per wear will be into the pennies now and I will probably buy again when they do eventually wear out.

Aparecium · 14/09/2025 08:48

Colour overkill Cbeebies presenter is not a look I flinch from - out of work. But as these shoes will have to be worn both at work and as casual, head must over-rule heart in this case.

Thanks for the reality check!

Red. It's a dark, browish red, not even a particularly vibrant red. There's nothing outlandish about them and no reason why you can't wear them with the colours you mentioned.

To paraphase a poster on another thread "CBC presenter" is a tired old jibe and a sign that I’m on the right track!"

[She was responding to being told a dress has "Grayson Perry vibes"]

Red. Why not have the thing that makes your heart happy? It’s not exactly wildly out there even with violet or pink trousers
