What to wear with this dress for a November wedding

Just as the title says, I really like this dress but it feels like it's more for summer. I'm going to a wedding in November (travelling to and from the venue by train) so trying to figure out what to wear with it so I don't freeze to death!

If you haven’t bought it yet I’d wait for it to reach the sale price - it really doesn’t look like £70 …

(But for November I’d suggest a big fluffy fake fur jacket.)

StrawberryPi · 12/09/2025 16:35

I think any kind of cover up/shawl/wrap is going to look very fussy with that. I would go for my best coat (ideally longer than knee length, cosy wool or similar, dark colour), plain heels (probably black or navy, but could pick our a colour form the dress), and chunky earrings. Have fun!

Lennylennylenny · 12/09/2025 17:19

Thank you both!

@Aixellency I love the idea of a faux fur jacket, probably perfect for November in Scotland :)
@StrawberryPi The problem I have is that I don't have any formal coats, other than a khaki trench which definitely would not be appropriate!

Also considering this one, but not ordered either yet. Knowing me, neither of them will suit me.

I love it. How about a dark blue or deep/dark pink faux fur jacket?

Zebracat · 12/09/2025 19:40

In November in Scotland you will need a coat. I agree it needs to be longer than the dress , dark and fairly plain. They are findable in Charity shops/ Vinted. I would also wear boots, and a big shawl for over the coat on the way there and instead of it at the venue.

MangoesAndPeaches · 13/09/2025 17:23

Both of those dresses are very summery. I wouldn’t wear them to a wedding in November, specially in Scotland, even with a coat.

I love the peachy orange dress you hire for 4 days
If I was going somewhere special I would100% wear this, I love it. If your inside take some sandles or heels in a bag and leave out door boots etc in cloakroom with your coat. Have a great time.💕

Birthday blowout: what to wear to your big bash – or someone else’s

Whoever is blowing out the candles, a birthday calls for glamour. A romantic dress, a dash of leopard print and sparkly accessories are just the job

Regardless of season it’s very cheap looking imo

I’d maybe go for one of these:

https://www.popsyclothing.co.uk/collections/blazers/products/elena-dark-navy-bolero-jacket

And then, as others have said, a long coat over the top for travelling to/from the venue and any time you have to be outside.

A pair of closed-toe heels, such as:

or:

or:

would also be good, so you can wear a pair of nude tights to keep your legs warm! I highly recommend Snag Tights, they don’t do ‘nude’ as a colour but instead have a selection to match different skin tones, e.g.:

Edited to add a couple of coat suggestions:

The cheapest is £70, but a smart coat does tend to cost a bit more but will last you ages. 🙂

Gish you would be better off with something warm, woollen in November, even more so in Scotland. Otherwise I would travel well wrapped up and change at the venue. You'll perish otherwise
