Black jumpsuit for a wedding - styling options

Right, I do NOT like wearing black to weddings. I know lots of people think it's fine. We are invited to the post reception after party for someone. We will most likely only be there for a few hours. I have realised that my summery wedding guest outfit is probably inappropriate, particularly as the weather is changing. But I am not buying something new.

Enter black jumpsuit I already own.

But I need to style it, without any meaningful extra cost. I am thinking of buying a silver belt as actually, I have had a few outfits where I have thought, "a silver belt would work well here) so that's one cost I'm willing to spend. I do not have any cute jackets in other colours and I'm not willing to buy one. I do have a silvery and pink shawl which will work as a cover. And a silver bag.

If you are a "no black to weddings" person, do you think this would work considering it is just the afterparty? Shoes will have to be black I think although I do have some dark pink almost maroon heels that would look great - I'm just not sure I can wear heels that high anymore! Grin

I would be happy to wear black for the evening party, I wouldn’t worry about that.

maybe a statement necklace or earrings?

Sounds perfect. M&S had some silver flat Mary Janes last season which were great back up in a bag. [after about 30 mins]

Sorry all, I missed these comments somehow?!

It worked well and there was someone else wearing something similar and the dress code was brilliantly varied so I didn't feel out of place at all. I admit, black jumpsuit still isn't my favourite wedding outfit so I won't be whipping it out every time, but on this occassion, it was fine.
