This is for the charity shop isn’t it? Unstylable skirt!

I bought this a couple of years ago. I have worn twice.

Is there anyway to style it?

Its midi length.

Why is it unstylable? What is it made from? How does it drape?
depending on answer to the above:
Skinny black jumper, chunky jewellery, slim black boots for the winter.
Pale scoop neck T (pale pink or the v pale blue/white) skinny cardi 3/4 sleeve in one of the darker colours (teal or green) either undone or with a single button, black ballet flats for the office or black trainers for the school run.

I'd wear a belt in the same colour as the top

It’s satin, very thin. I suppose I couldn’t think what style it is. It’s sort of futuristic looking! It’s from monki where things are mismatched, tops cropped. I think it’s meant to be tight/stretched but I have bought it slightly bigger.
i could make it grown up with black top and boots/tights

Don’t see the problem, assuming it fits! (And you wear a slip underneath to help it to hang well.)

So many colours you can reference - and as it vaguely follows the body you can put it with pretty much any shape of top. (You don’t have to wear it in exactly the way it was shown on a website.)

Have you tried it on with every single t shirt / shirt / sweatshirt / hoodie / jumper / cardigan / jacket / coat you own?

Do you have some sort of up to date footwear? Pointy flats, or chunky loafers, or knee high boots? Try all of those too.

In short, there are countless ways to wear the skirt - but it may be that you haven’t worn it because you don’t actually like it. Which is fair enough!

I think it’s one of those items which unless you really like it you’re maybe not going to feel good wearing. I’ve got one or two skirts like that I really should get rid of - I could wear them with this or that top but there’s always something else I’d rather wear.

Nifty50something · 11/09/2025 08:27

I don't think it's unstylable but I do think it's not very nice and won't look good even if styled appropriately.

Ionlymakejokestodistractmyself · 11/09/2025 08:33

I quite like it, alright it's not my style I can see why you bought it! Think it could look good with a slightly cropped, boxy black or dark grey t shirt.

Purplecatshopaholic · 11/09/2025 08:35

Fitted black sweater and black knee high boots. Job done. Keep the rest simple to let the skirt shine. Will look fab op.

ArghhWhatNext · 11/09/2025 08:37

I’d wear it with a chunky jumper, most likely black. In Cos they have some pink jumpers (different styles) now tgat would go nicely.

Cinaferna · 11/09/2025 08:38

I'd style that with a close fitting cropped fluffy jumper in one of the skirt's colours- baby pink, white or electric blue. Or a skinny rib fitted polo neck and boots in winter. In summer, sandals, a tight white tee shirt with a white linen blouse on top, or just the linen blouse.

luckylavender · 11/09/2025 08:41

I like it. Plenty you could do with it.

Mulledjuice · 11/09/2025 08:42

If the colours and the cut suit you then you can absolutely style it. (I'd wear a white chunky knit roll-neck and almond-toe knee or calf boots
